Aisha and Rachel are a real couple with charm and a deep love for each other. So deep, they were willing to spend a day with a bunch of creatives putting together trends we’d love to see for 2019- including more macrame, hanging chairs, cats- and even fun reception ideas like alcoholic popsicles. Wearing white can be stylish and modern. We wanted to show how sharp women’s suits and dress clothing can be and that feeling comfortable on your big day is the most important and generally harder for non-cis or hetero couples achieve.

We brought together vendors who strive for inclusivity and innovation, including our coordinator, Cindy Lindsley, of Peachy Keen Coordination. Starting our day at Tendue in NE Portland, setting up tables and place settings. Cindy had an excellent idea to incorporate oranges as a pop of color and a refreshing take on a typical table with fresh florals. Bramble Floral provided not only a gorgeous place setting but ferns attached to the wall behind the altar to dress up an otherwise plain white wall while keeping stylistically minimal. We have a fabulous invitation suite with place cards on that table to help with guest seating from Puddle Jumpin’ Cards as well.

We were able to incorporate some fantastic rental pieces from Vintage Meets Modern. Including a swinging chair, a macrame piece for the altar, and a gorgeous rug. Dressing those up with florals let us add color and a comfortable flow from area to area that matched our aesthetic. Rachel’s dress from The White Dress, jewelry by Kristin Coffin, and hair and makeup by Tiffany Randolph made for a cool, sophisticated look that added simplicity but visual interest with new fabrics and textures. Both Aisha and Rachel looked completely fabulous and kept with a neutral palette and pops of color. We captured the love both with a breathtaking video from Jordan and Khyristina Films and photography by Jamie Carle.

While the rest of the world is putting dogs into their day, we decided to add a pretty orange kitty to show that having your best buddies there doesn’t have to be limited (as long as they love weddings!). Sloshy Pops provided an amazing assortment of alcoholic popsicles with tasty fruit and garnishments. A lot of couples don’t realize how tailored they can make each part of their wedding. If you’re a cats-and-popsicles couple, you can do it too!
