Amanda and Lorena have faced some major challenges in their relationship. Nonetheless, their love conquered, and they now see wedding and baby joy on their horizon.
How they met.
Amanda and Lorena met in a unique situation at an LGBTQ+ Secret Santa. They didn’t know each other, but Lorena had seen a picture of Amanda on Facebook, and had the biggest crush! Nerves set in and Lorena didn’t have the guts to talk to her, but when Amanda locked eyes with her, she tried to change everyone from their seats so that they could sit next to one another.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome together?
L: My family doesn’t accept me or Amanda. Unfortunately, my father has cancer, and I can’t be near him because my mother doesn’t talk to me anymore. She threatened Amanda a couple of times. We even had to go to the police station once because we were afraid she would do something. And sadly, no one from my family is attending our wedding.
On the other hand, Amanda’s family is fantastic. Her aunts, uncles, and cousins are ALL excited to come to our wedding. Her mother is crazy about me and Amanda’s grandmother loves me as well!
Tell us your favorite thing about one another.
L: Amanda is my best friend. She is my holy family. Her family loves me, but if I just had her, I could live forever, laughing. She is hilarious, and incredibly calm. I am basically a storm at home, and she laughs off everything I do. Oh, and she carries me on her back around the house all the time, whenever I ask.
A: I like how determined Lorena is. She protects our family and me, and she pushes me forward. Whenever I am struggling to do something, she comes over and tells me I can do it
What’s in the future for you both?
We are getting married in December, and we are so happy! It’s been eight years planning this wedding. So, with this being said, next year we are taking our family to another level. We plan on getting pregnant! We want twins, and we’ve been waiting for this for a very long time!
