BriAnna & Katlynn – An Elopement at Yosemite

Kylie Farmer photography lesbian gay lgbtq+ COVID-19 family elopement Yosemite National Park USA (1)

Surrounded by the incredible landscape of Yosemite, California, BriAnna and Katlynn exchanged their emotional vows and became wife and wife.

Tell us a little about your engagment.

K: After five years together, one of our favorite memories together was our road trip down the Pacific Coast Highway. It was so breathtaking. We drove from Portland, OR to San Fran, CA, and made the BEST memories. We’d love to do it again.

Actually, while we were on said road trip-we stayed one night in a beautiful oceanfront suite; and Bri proposed to me during sunset on the balcony. I was completely surprised- she said she wanted to do it the day before but had way too much caffeine and was too nervous!

Talk us through the decision to elope.

B & K: Honestly, we love to be surrounded by nature. We didn’t want to spend thousands of dollars on food and drinks and wanted it to be really intimate and special. Eloping was perfect for us.

Our loved ones were supportive of us eloping for the most part. Initially, we were going to have about fifteen guests-but with COVID, we decided it was best not to have anyone else travel.

Tell ua about the day, it looked incredible.

K: Well, we stayed at AutoCamp in Yosemite, and our photographer, Kylie, and her hubby, Trevor, met us there. On the day of the wedding, we were up and getting ready at about 2:30 am. We were on a mission to chase the sunrise to exchange our vows. We both drove separately to the park and were SO nervous. I thought I would either puke or pass out on the way there, which later Bri told me she also felt the same way! But we made it!

It was cold- but we had so much adrenaline it didn’t matter. Our first look was at the top of Glacier Point, where we exchanged our vows. Afterward, we hiked wherever we could to take photos. Kylie was so outstanding and made us feel so comfortable. A couple of people asked us if we had a double wedding (cue eye roll). But for the most part, everyone congratulated us.

After morning photos, we went to a cute little breakfast place, then we napped and went back for sunset photos! At the end of the evening, I think we hiked like four miles to get out to Taft Point. It was wild! Our dresses got dirty and torn, but when we got there, the view was breathtaking. BriAnna popped a bottle of champagne which ended up popping early because of the air pressure. It was literally the most amazing day of our lives. We plan to go back to Yosemite for our first anniversary.

Now that you’re married, what do you dream of for your future together?

Someday we’d love to own a salon where we rent out chairs to other stylists and have the space to teach classes. We also want to have babies, buy a vacation home, and make traveling more of a priority. All of the things!
