Brianna & Kimberly love country music, and their rustic barn wedding in Pennsylvania was the perfect wedding for them.
There were two proposals, and we want all the details.
K: In the summer of 2017, We went to Tampa to visit my parents who live there. Unbeknownst to me – there was a proposal in the works. Brianna planned a night away in the city, and when we got to the hotel, there was a little courtyard with a slideshow of our pictures playing, candles, the whole nine. My best friends from all over the world popped out afterward to surprise me, and we all spent a night on the town together.
After this, in 2018, Brianna’s grandmother passed away – and left us her wedding ring. I had the diamond reset and was waiting to surprise her with it. Instead of asking her to marry me, I did propose but asked for her last name instead. It was really special.
What was the inspiration behind the vibe of your wedding day?
Rustic and country chic. We love country music, we love the barn house vibes, and it perfectly matches us. We wanted it to be semi-formal – we had cornhole and yard games during the cocktail hour, and we just wanted everyone to have a good time.
And, you brought the day together with plenty of DIY projects, tell us more!
Tons of DIY projects! We have a Cricut machine, which made it easy to get lost in projects. Bri made the arbor that we stood under, staining it to perfection. We also made all of our own signs, and we used windows for our table numbers. We spray-painted books gold for our centerpieces, and most of our decorations were done by us!
You kept your wedding dress choices secret from one another, how did you go about shopping?
We didn’t show one another our dresses. Because I dress shopped in Florida, just with my Mom, and she dress shopped here with our bridesmaids – we had to be sure we didn’t pick the same dress. They were on patrol and actually asked the bridal assistant to hide my dress because they did in fact, carry it at the shop she went to.
We both bought cute shoes – but the second the ceremony was over, I was in fuzzy slides, and Brianna was in white crocs. We also had sequined jackets for the end of the reception that both said BRIDE on the back.
Talk to us about the big day!
I know everyone says it, but it truly was the best day ever. All of the stress leading up to it was completely worth it.
We had the best weather we could have possibly had. Our friends did a fantastic job keeping us apart while we got ready, but being sure that they were spreading their time wisely between us, so we never felt alone.
We did a first look, which was the best decision. It took some anxiousness away! Her brothers walked her down to me, and we read our vows back to back before then turning around. From there, we headed to our bridal suite with our girls and then to the ceremony.
The reception was SO much fun – and everyone had an amazing time. Once we got back to the hotel, it was a full-on hotel party. They kept the bar open for us, and the party lasted well into the morning hours.
And, what does your marriage mean to you?
Everything, actually. Being married to your best friend is something indescribable. The wedding day itself was perfect, but to look past all of that, knowing that we will get to spend our lives together, is something magical. It means commitment, honesty, faith and love.
