Our story starts like any other, back in 2010… a house party.
I noticed the quiet girl in the room, and she definitely noticed the loud girl in the room. Although this is when we met, our love story wouldn’t begin until a year later. We were both coming off the end of relationships and seeked each other’s friendships for comfort. One thing led to another, and we accidentally fell for each other in our healing process.
When they say opposites attract, I sometimes think we’re the definition. She’s quiet. I’m loud. She’s neat. I’m messy. She’s absolutely selfless. I am not… She thinks she’s a gangster. I’m a bit of an emo girl.
But there are things we are the exact same in.
We love adventure, and we love doing nothing at home with our dogs, and we have the same sense of humor. All these things equate to the perfect balance between us both.
We’ve been through it all together, new life, end of life, career changes, moves. She’s seen the ugliest version of me, yet she sticks around. I’m pretty certain Vanessa knows me better than I could ever even know myself. Despite all our beautiful love, it took us TEN YEARS to finally get engaged, but only five minutes after to book a wedding date.
I’m the luckiest person in the world to be able to say I found my person, my partner, my soul mate.
Tell us about eloping after the proposal.
About a week after the proposal, I had already booked the date. Ten years was enough, and I didn’t need to wait any longer.
We eloped in the Blue Mountains in NSW nine months after getting engaged. As we love the mountains and hiking, so we knew we wanted to do it there. We had our two closest friends come with us to be our witnesses. It was the most magical and perfect day, just us against the world. We’re having a big party/reception six weeks after the elopement with all our friends and family.
