City Hall Elopement in NYC

A Queer City Hall Elopement in NYC

Falling in love during a pandemic was no obstacle. After knowing that they were meant to be, they had a private and meaningful City Hall elopement in New York.

THE PROPOSAL

When it came to their proposal, Chelsea knew that Shannan was not comfortable with public displays of affection. So, she set up a romantic evening in their apartment, complete with candles, rose petals, and a light-up sign that read, “MARRY ME.” Chelsea got down on one knee and poured her heart out, telling Shannan every reason she loved her and wanted to spend the rest of her life with her. It was emotional and beautiful, and Shannan said yes without hesitation.

DECIDING TO ELOPE

Despite the excitement of their engagement, Chelsea and Shannan faced challenges when it came to planning their wedding. They both had complicated family relationships, and weddings are expensive, so they decided to elope. They wanted a moment and ceremony just for themselves, where they could make vows to each other and start their lives together as a married couple.

THE ELOPEMENT DAY

The day of the elopement was perfect. They booked a beautiful hotel room at Mr. C Hotel Seaport and spent the night there before the wedding day. On the wedding day, hair and makeup arrived, followed by their amazing photographer, Shelby. They took a limo to City Hall, where they were married in front of their best friend and witness, Daniela. After the ceremony, they took a tour of the city, stopping at their favorite spots, Central Park and the Upper East Side, to take photos with Shelby. After a delicious dinner at the hotel, they spent the night there before departing for a five-night trip to Mexico the next morning.

AFTER MARRIAGE

Chelsea and Shannan were grateful to have found each other, and they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. They loved New York City and never wanted to leave, but they also dreamed of someday having a lake house nearby where they could escape the city and enjoy nature.

They also wanted to travel the world, to see new places and create more memories together.

In the end, Chelsea and Shannan’s elopement was just the beginning of their journey as a married couple. They had found each other in a big city during a pandemic, and they knew they could conquer anything together. They were grateful for their love, their dogs, and the life they had built together, and they were excited for the adventures that lay ahead.
