Deanna and Lesley are two brides who enjoy the simple things in life, so they decided to DIY their wedding day. Something rustic and simple, something that was ‘them’.

Together they met through mutual friends and after casually hanging out as friends for a few months, Lesley confessed her true feelings to Deanna, as luck would have it, they were mutual.

Deanna proposed to Lesley. She arranged a friend of hers to take pictures at Columbia Riverfront Park. Although Lesley was under the impression they were photos for the photographers website – it was actually the day the Deanna would get down on one knee and marry her. It took Lesley completely by surprise.

The theme of the event was something simple and rustic. Lesley is really into cowboy boots, and Deanna loves the simple things in life. Deanna and Lesley decided that they wanted to DIY most of their wedding themselves. While Deanna got to work on florals and table pieces, Lesley got together the arbour and pictures. The bride’s bouquets were made of wood and were handcrafted. Family and friends played a big role in the big day. Deanna’s mother was kind enough to offer up her kitchen, making everything from the BBQ to the cake.

Deanna and Lesley’s wedding day was everything they’d dreamt of. When asked if there was one moment that stood out, Deanna quickly replied “when I first saw Lesley walking down the aisle towards me. I knew she was going to be beautiful. There is something about that anticipation that makes that moment so special. We locked eyes, and my eyes began to water. She was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen”.
