Traveling from California, Kim and Lianna traveled with their children to Italy, where they married in a romantic ceremony surrounded by family.
“As people in the LGBTQ+ community, we are used to family coming together in many different ways. A lot of the time, it’s our friends who are like family, because people can be not so accepting”, says Lianna.
“Something, we hope is changing. I always knew that I would have kids one day, and was open to how that would come together. When I met Kim, she came with two beautiful children, who I view as extensions of her. It was easy to love them, and we quickly became like a family unit. We have Dylan 7, and Jordan 11, and they are so fun and smart and beautiful inside and out, too.”
Planning a Destination Wedding
Kim and Lianna love Italy and dreamed of a Destination Wedding with a Tuscan flavor, but not too country. They contacted wedding planners, Wedding Planners in Tuscany by Luccaorganizza, almost two years before their wedding, but then the covid pandemic hit, and they had to postpone their big day.
“Due to Covid, we arrived in Tuscany without ever having seen the venue. We could not have prepared for it to be more perfect.
Keep in mind too that we were low-maintance brides… we trusted the Universe and you delivered more than we could ever have even dreamed.
We were looking around at each other on our wedding night wondering if this wedding was really for us! It was above and beyond, and was gorgeous.” says Kim.
The Wedding Week in Tuscany
When they were finally able to declare their love, they did it in an authentic and intimate way. It was a real ‘Tuscan experience’ which they shared together with the people dearest to them.
Their wedding week included many exciting activities. They took wine tastings in notable cellars, boat rides to the Cinque Terre, vintage car rides through the Tuscan countryside and al fresco lunches in the gardens of Villa di Valgiano, near Lucca, the beautiful setting of their wedding where they also stayed with family and friends.

The Tuscan Styling
Kim and Lianna had very clear ideas about what they wanted for their wedding day from the beginning. They sent their planners a moodboard full of unique and interesting ideas which we interpreted to reflect their personalities with stunning results.
As wedding planners, Luccaorganizza, love to interact with our couples to create truly bespoke weddings. It was clear that for this occasion, they needed a setting with an Italian flavor that wasn’t too rustic.
The team decided to combine typically Tuscan elements such as geraniums and gladioli and linen runners with a touch of inspiration using Capri model placemats that gave a hint of Italian tradition and an energetic and vibrant color palette.
The convivial and joyful atmosphere ran through every aspect of the day, including the wedding dinner. In fact, our couple chose two long imperial tables and not wanting the traditional plate service, instead preferring dishes served on trays to share with their loved ones, with their choice of food creating a magical family experience.
In short, every detail reflected the love Kim and Lianna share for each other, their joy of being with their dearest family and their closest friends.
The Love Story
“Kim and I have been together for almost four years. We knew pretty quickly that we were “the one.” The Buddhists have it right, when love arrives it is the most calming, peaceful and knowing feeling in the world.
I waited two years to propose.
We actually booked our venue in Italy and Kim bought her dress before I’d even proposed! I told you, there was a knowing. I am a comedian and comedy writer in Los Angeles. Kim is a Sign Language Interpreter working with deaf children. I come from a deaf family (my mother is deaf and I grew up with deaf brothers) so it was a perfect fit when we met.
We speak Sign Language in front of the kids, it is our secret language to co-parent together … and that is quite funny and nice!
Next, we will learn Italian!” concludes Lianna.
