Awkward Soul
An awkward soul with a love for romance and intimacy.

None of us are perfect, but if we’re lucky we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with our own. My work is to capture that weirdness and celebrate it in all its magic, flaws and all. I’m hoping you’ll be up for letting me be a part of your amazing story.
Look, I could put the camera on a tripod, chuck a big zoom lens on and keep my distance, capturing your day from afar. There’s nothing wrong with working this way, I did it for years. But let’s be honest, what is the point of having me there without the intimacy, up-close emotion, affection and everything else that comes with such an important ritual. I want to get to know you, what makes your relationship unique, I want to know how you make each other laugh, how you inspire each other, how you comfort one another. I don’t want it to feel like some stranger with a camera turning up on your day, I want you to feel completely comfortable with me, so let’s get to know each other.
I’m looking for couples who want to celebrate the intimacy and vulnerability of their relationship. If you’re looking for a videographer to really be involved in your day and your story, then I think we are a good fit.
The Awkward Soul experience should be a bit like a meditation; I am always looking for moments throughout the day to stop, breathe, listen to all the sounds around you, and be completely in the present moment, no posing, no expectations, just exist. (with mixes of immature humour and dad jokes mixed in)

What’s the most important thing to remember when planning a wedding?
Do not be pressured by others about how your day should run. Word’s like “obligation” shouldn’t be associated with such a special day. It’s all about the two of you and your story together.
Do you have a favourite quote or mantra to live by?
“There are at least a billion people on earth at this moment who would consider their prayers answered if they could trade places with you.”
and
“Strain, manipulation, passion, and friction. Take away any one of these crucial elements, and a violin has no voice.”
What’s your process for understanding a couple’s vision for their day?
The more informed I can be, the better. I would love to hear as much as any couple is willing to share about their story, it all informs how they and I approach their special day. I want as many virtual or face-to-face meetings as is convenient. The last thing I want is for it to feel like a stranger turning up on your day. My process involves asking some questions, but mostly listening.
