The landscape just outside of Perth, Western Australia, made the perfect backdrop for this moody styled shoot. In silk dresses and some beautiful florals, couple, Ella and Bobbi, danced through the sand dunes.
A note from the photographer, Amanda Afton Photography:
My good friend Mae, from Maevana Bridal, and I had become obsessed with the Lancelin Dunes. In equal parts because her gowns are as raw and wild as the drifts of sand and because I love the way the landscape reflects the colours of the pastel sky at sunset. When we started dreaming up a shoot, we knew we wanted it all about women. Mae knew that Ella and Bobbi would wear her gowns like a dream.
I’m incredibly thankful and in awe of the wedding talent, we have here in Perth, considering how small-town we are. From Marielle Studio, Mary made a crown and bouquet with no direction from us. Which somehow fit the aesthetic perfectly, and Kate Bell supplied the earrings that clearly belong in a desert.
As the shoot date approached, we quickly realised we were in for one of the stormiest weekends in Perth, as luck would have it. That Saturday was forecasted 100% chance of rain and wind bursts up to forty-five km/hr. But everyone agreed to strap in and hope for the best. It wasn’t until about the last five minutes of the ninety-minute drive up there that we must have broken through the storm front, and although it was freezing, we somehow didn’t get a drop of rain. The girls were amazing. They shivered on and snuggled up, and the heat they brought is the only thing you can see in the photos.
And as an honourable mention, our hair and makeup artists were Brooke and Rachelle from The Pretty Parlour, and they made the girls look dazzling.
