Elmaz & Jenny

Katrina Van Camp Photography lesbian queer couple Canada British Colombia wedding elopement Dancing With Her

Elmaz proposed on September 21st on a full moon and equinox. They proposed at their favorite lookout where they grew up, outlooking Vernon, British Columbia.

Before Elmaz proposed to JR, they asked for the permission of her parents. JR’s Mom didn’t understand what was happening. It turns out she had thought Elmaz had already proposed! JR’s Mom congratulated JR before the actual proposal, and so the proposal was moved a few months quicker than Elmaz had initially been planned.

Finding the wedding venue was relatively easy. Elmaz and JR had been to the venue the summer prior to a couple of weddings and thought it was an excellent fit for our wedding. They loved the river and pictured getting married right beside it.

It also fits neatly into their theme of minimalistic natural, with a touch of vintage.

Finding outfits was also a breeze. Elmaz found their perfect outfit online store Indochino. A simple gray fitted pant and white shirt. JR found her perfect dress in a little boutique called Blonde, in Kelowna BC, Canada. Their kids, Alden and Izzy, were both dressed in Gap.

The wedding day went without a hitch. It was so relaxed, fun, and full of love. The best memory was watching all their friends and family come together and work their buns off for the lovers. Almost the entire wedding came together with friends and family. A true testament to just how much love there is for the newlyweds.

Another wonderful memory was the whole ceremony itself. It was picture perfect, full of tears and excitement of a magical union.
Their children stood with them in the front with the bride mates. They vowed together as a family. The officiant, Sue Carinie, performed the Celtic knot.

Their union means more than just a commitment to their relationship. It’s a commitment to their life together as a family.
