As unconventional as we are, there wasn’t a proposal. It was more of a conversation while we were taking a stroll through Paris. It was a joint decision, and we started planning our wedding.
Originally we wanted a small and intimate wedding in one of our friends’ backyard. We thought we could plan everything ourselves. We were wrong. Six months out of a planned twelve-month engagement, nothing was planned. We then had to find a wedding planner to save the day. In comes our rockstar wedding planner, Liza Bourkard, with Studio DBI. She was the wedding planner at our friend’s wedding a year prior, and we were told she was amazing. We’d seen her work, and we loved it. She made our dream wedding come to life.
She ran with our dreams of a rustic undertone and candlelight feel. We wanted to wear dresses. We were lucky enough to find simple but elegant dresses that we both loved and complimented each other so well.
The wedding day is one of the best days of our lives. It felt as if the whole world paused, took a breath just for us to have that perfect day.
All the stresses of the days leading up melted away. All there was left was us smiling at each other and promising to love one another “from this world into the next.” The whole day we felt as if we were suspended in this perfect bubble with all our favorite people gathered under one roof.
We remember during dinner looking out and whispering to each
other in amazement how lucky we were that all these people from all over the world came together to celebrate us and our love.
Marriage, to us means that you can share the most sublime moments with another human being who loves you for as long as life will allow. It
means you will always have someone to have coffee with, a lifetime confidante, a live dream journal, someone to grow with and share in all of life’s insanity.
Marriage means home and love wherever you are as long as it involves each other.
