A Fun and Colorful (Pink) Queer Wedding Day

A Fun and Colorful (Pink) Queer Wedding Day

Colorful Pink Queer Wedding Day

In gowns designed by Colby John Bridal, these two brides shared a private ceremony in the hills of Tennessee before meeting with their family and friends for the biggest colorful celebration of love.

Cute story actually. When we arrived home this year on 5/5/22 after our son’s baseball game, I was in complete shock to see that she had decorated our backyard in string lights and tiki torches guiding our way to a large tree in our backyard (also with lights in it) with a beautiful turquoise boho rug under it where she got down on one knee. It started to rain on us and through tears asked me to become her wife. Her and our son both had waterworks going as I, of course, said yes to the easiest question I have ever been asked.

Only a month or two later, we got word of Supreme Court talks about ‘undoing what the Dems did back in 2015,’ which included same-sex marriage. With Tennessee being a majority red state, we were scared that we wouldn’t make it to our 5/5/23 wedding date, and be able to say I do in our home state. So we decided to say ‘I do’ legally on our dating anniversary, ten years after the very first date.

Conveniently, we already had the engagement photo shoot scheduled on that day as well. We celebrated with close friends immediately after pics and then did a mini getaway.

I mean two girls, I (Tasha) couldn’t resist! And this was even before Barbie took over the world! We also wanted to incorporate some more moody vibes.

Our fun and colorful, yet moody vibe wedding day just felt like us.

We called around looking for something that fit our personalities and style. I found a local wedding dress bridal boutique in Madison, AL . When we called and Meighan answered the the phone we knew the search was over.

We had already called and scheduled a couple other appointments with other dress shops but when I called she asked questions, she asked us a little about ourseleves and our styles and she knew we must come to the Colby John trunk show. No other appointments took the time to ask and that really stood out to us. And sure enough, after multiple other bridal dress shopping appt days with no luck we went to our appointment at Kathleen’s Bridal and was able to meet Colby John himself and have a customized by Colby John himself dress was such an amazing experience.

Meighan was precious and so great to work with. She is so fun and down to earth. Overall the best experience and we were both so unsure in the beginning if we would ever find what we both invisioned and to both find it on one night at the same place with

Our big day celebration (May 5th) was more than we could have ever dreamed of. It was literally perfect. We wanted it to be FUN. And boy, was it!

We shared personal vows in gowns and all the fun jazz on a turquoise rug on a farm with rolling hills in TN under a big tree with just my best guy friend, who is a lawyer (who legally married us) officiating. It was just our son, and us.

Immediately after we will go to our downtown and celebrate with our friends and family.

We planned every song out (4hr20min worth of songs) in order of how we wanted them played and when all night long. We wanted it to be a night of everyone’s top favorite song to sing and dance to and that is exactly what we all did. Our friends are still constantly saying how fun it was. And that is what we wanted. Love should be fun.
