Georg & Nic – An Relaxed Boho Wedding in Kinglake

Lesbian Melbourne, Australian forest wedding captured by Heather Robbins Photography (1)

We met in March 2019 through Nic’s ex, then started playing footy together and fell in love at footy training. Nic was in a toxic relationship of three years, and I had ended a toxic relationship with my boyfriend of three years a few months prior (it took me a while to realize boys weren’t for me finally). We hit it off instantly and soon became inseparable. Within a few months, we moved in together and have only spent one night apart since. We love anything outdoors: walks, hikes, camping, waterfalls, forests, beaches. Our favorite thing to do is go on adventures together.

We are two best friends in love, and we feel so lucky to have found each other. She is my person, and I am hers. Nicole is everything I’ve ever wanted in a partner.

We got engaged on February the 21st when Nic proposed in the Redwood Forest and had a surprise engagement party planned for that night. I am still shook that she pulled that off. I honestly had no idea!

We bought a house in May and just got married on 8.1.22. Due to Covid taking over in 2021, we couldn’t visit venues or really plan our wedding, but we couldn’t wait to be married. So post lockdown, we finally saw the most beautiful venue in Kinglake. They mentioned they had January the 8th available – 8 is Nicole’s favorite number, so obviously, we took that as a sign and had to book it in with only seven weeks out!

We are both pretty chill; Nic’s a tiler, and I’m a dental assistant and studying to be a nurse. We live in Doreen with our tiny dog Cruz. She is our baby and comes everywhere with us, so she was a part of our big day! We wanted a fun, relaxed ceremony with lots of laughs and happy tears, and that’s exactly what we got.

We stayed together the night before and had dinner with our bridal party. Spending the morning together on our wedding day but then drove to the venue separately, so Nic didn’t see me in my dress until I was walking down the aisle. We even did rock, paper, and scissors to decide who said their vows first.

The reception followed immediately after and it was perfect. Our first dance was our favorite part of the whole day, even though Nic was anxiously trying to get out of it. The day was perfect, and we wish we could do it all again!
