Georgia & Tegan – A Luxe Boho Wedding at Maleny

Lesbian wedding in Queensland hinterland Australia

With an autumnal-inspired color pallete and a luxe boho feel in mind, Georgia and Tegan brought to life their Maleny wedding day.

How did Covid impact your wedding planning? How did you manage those emotions?

It seemed to be going really well until we went into lockdown a few weeks before our wedding date. It was a super stressful lead-up, and we nearly rescheduled but decided we wanted to go ahead regardless. There were a lot of tears, but our vendors were amazing and so supportive. It really made us stop and realize that the most important part was the two of us being together and getting married. Parties can happen later!

We were so, so lucky that we ended up being able to go ahead almost exactly as we planned.

Tell us about the experience of finding your wedding day outfits.

We both had amazing experiences finding our dresses. It was stressful for me because I’m super indecisive, so I went to quite a few stores and then ended up trying separates which I never thought I would choose. The hardest part was not having Teegs there to bounce off of and keeping our dresses a secret! I wanted to show her so badly, but it was worth the wait.

Teegs found it very stressful at first, too, but eventually found Erin, who just totally understood her vision and created a beautiful dress for her. We actually ended up with dresses that complimented each other so well, even though we didn’t see each others before the day. We were both so surprised!

What was the vibe of the wedding, and how was the overall planning experience?

We were going for autumn colors, and a luxe boho feel. I found this hard to put in words the whole way through! We wanted to ensure we had little details that made it very us. Our initials are G&T, so we had a super cute G&T bar at our reception with signature gins, and I think that was a favorite part for both of us.

I took charge of the planning, and Teegs is super ‘go with the flow’, so she was happy to trust me with the planning. We joked that she would just walk in and be like, “wow, this is nice!”.

I wish I could do it all again and again, maybe in a post-Covid world, though.

Now that you’ve done it, do you have advice for others planning their wedding day?

Pick your team first! An incredible team of vendors pulled us through. You need people in your corner with all of the curveballs, Covid throws, and just general life throws. The best thing we did was pick our team before choosing our date.

Also, take a minute for just the two of you. It’s a huge, emotionally charged day, and it’s so important to remember each other. That’s why you are doing it all! We took a minute after the ceremony just to be together, and it was the best.
