With more than fifty events spread across an entire month, World Pride is set to flood New York City in a sea of sequins, glitter & hairspray for the month of June – and we cannot wait!
Here’s how we suggest you celebrate World Pride in New York City this June.
World Pride Events New York City
Depending on what weekend you are visiting New York during pride month here are our top picks for events that you won’t want to miss:
Monday June 17 until Wednesday June 19 – Out Cinema
Across three days, you’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in queer culture and film. Some films also offer exclusive opportunity to attend Q&A events with the filmmakers, a unique opportunity to explore the films in more depth.
Monday June 24 until Tuesday June 25 – Human Rights Conference
If you want to skip the glitter and parties for something a little more serious, the annual human rights conference is a gathering of artists and activists, policymakers and educators. Across two days, this conference is a global dialogue of human rights issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community.
Sunday June 30 – NYC Pride March
There aren’t really words to describe just how incredible it feels to be surrounded by so much love and pride. NYC Pride March is the biggest in the world, and it is one of those things that you’ll need to experience at least once in your life.
As the day winds up, Times Square will hold host to the closing ceremony bringing together a unique mix of musicians and LGBTQ+ influential speakers.
Both the Pride March and closing ceremony are free events.

Discover the LGBTQ+ history of New York
World Pride 2019 is happening alongside the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising – so stopping by the historic Stonewall Inn is a must. In fact, Greenwich Village [where you’ll find the iconic bar] is rich with LGBTQ+ history and art – spending the afternoon here will fill your heart with so much pride for just how far the community has come.
With all that walking and celebrating you’ll need to find somewhere to fill your stomach.
Harolds, located in the super convenient Soho district [Manhattan], has a delicious menu from breakfast right through to dinner. The menu changes, depending on the season, but with a modern American menu, there is sure to be something to please everyone. HOT TIP: Harolds is also perfect for cocktails; the Arlo Margarita has a kick to it that will get any party started.
If you were hoping to be around the Greenwich Village area after learning about the history, and you are searching for a great vegetarian option; Nix will show that vegetarian food doesn’t have to be healthy – it can be a little sinful and delicious.
Discover NYC’s most fierce drag queens
Did you really do pride if you didn’t attend a late night drag show? New York is home to some of the best drag shows, in the world – you will be spoilt for choice.
It won’t matter what night of the week it is, Lips NYC is home to some of New York’s best drag shows every night of the week. There’s also an opportunity for a sit-down dinner and show, where the queens will not just pull off incredible celebrity impersonations, but also wait your tables.
Also, don’t be afraid to ask around for the best shows. New shows pop up all the time across different venues & we’re almost certain that New York will be crawling with high heeled queens through the entire month!
Sleep it all off
There is one hotel in New York City that knows how to party [in style] just a little more than others. We’d recommend Arlo Soho every day of the week. With a Dylan’s Candy Bar in the reception [that becomes increasingly more irresistible as the day/night wears on] this hotel is technically classed as a micro-hotel – but don’t let the smaller room sizes deter! What this hotel lack in size it makes up for in personality & design!
[Also, why do you need giant rooms, smaller rooms are the perfect excuse to get nice and cozy]
The wifi is excellent, Netflix ready to go for when you’re nursing the hangover and there’s a rooftop bar for when you’re getting ready to hit the town again.
Also, the nightly rate is competitive – we all know that often New York is a little pricey – that little bit you’ll save means more events & more experiences!
