Tell Us About Your Photography And Why You Do What You Do.
My photography is my ability to be creative and to capture the true love between two people in their most authentic moments. It’s getting real smiles, big laughter, and moments that couples will remember and hang on their walls forever. I want to always be the photographer people walk away and say, “Wow, that was one of the best times I’ve had. I felt so comfortable and just felt like us.”
The reason I do what I do is simply this. The world is a hard place. It’s full of judgment, body shaming, and feeling like you don’t fit in. It’s hard to find someone you will feel comfortable in front of a camera with. But my goal is to make sure that EVERYONE can see themselves on my page and know that they are welcomed for who they are and who they love.
Elopements Or Weddings?
Honestly, both. Both elopements and weddings have wonderful and unique parts. They both have such intimate moments throughout the day. Whether it’s a two-hour elopement ceremony or a ten-hour wedding day, being able to capture the couple where nothing else matters but each other any way you do that, elopement or wedding, is perfect.
How Do You Capture Everything On The Wedding Day? Are You Working On A Timeline Etc.?
A timeline for me is an absolute must! Wedding days can get so crazy and go so quickly that being able to have that tiny little bit of structure can help my day go so much smoother. Of course, you can’t follow the timeline minute by minute. But it helps me stay on track, so I’m able to capture every important moment of the couple’s big day. It’s also important for me to share the timeline with the couple in advance of the day so I can be sure to capture unique moments special to the couple.
What Are Your Thoughts On An Unplugged Ceremony?
In my opinion, unplugged ceremonies are the way to go. At “plugged in” ceremonies, the guests might be more tuned to looking at their phones rather than the couple getting married. While this comes from a place of excitement and love, there are at times when this can impact the professional wedding photos.
When a couple hires me to shoot their special day, I will do everything in my power to capture the critical moments beautifully and professionally. If guests are competing for the little space I have, I will politely ask them to move aside where I can. However, if guests manage to make their way into the shot while trying to take their own photos, this poses a challenge from my standpoint. And there’s only so much I can do in terms of editing. Overall, it is really a couple’s decision whether to have an unplugged or plugged wedding, and I’ll always respect that.
What’s Your Best Advice For Couples Trying To Find Their Perfect Photographer?
Find a photographer that you can feel comfortable with. The most important thing is that you and your partner feel comfortable with the person you are hiring. Research the photographer’s work and see if their style matches what you want. Ask all the questions! I always tell my couples I am an open book. And I love to chat an afternoon away, getting to know their stories either in person or virtually.
