Tell us the inspiration behind the shoot.
This shoot was inspired by a desire to make something different. Our vision was to turn a traditional wedding setting on its head. We used the models (and real-life couple), Jasmine and Tynesha, as a blank canvas (dressed in all white and nude), then used florals, furniture, jewelry, and crystals to bring that vision to life. We wanted it to feel rich and luxe while modern and elegant. The result was a perfect juxtaposition of 1940s old Hollywood glam, paired with modern texture and light.
Why was creating this shoot important to the team?
With everything going on in the world, we wanted to create something that spoke to people. Something filled with joyful, positive energy, celebrating love in every form that it takes. Most importantly, we wanted this shoot to carry a message we could use – Everything Will Be Alright.
What are the key styling elements of the styled inspiration, and who brought them to life?
Instead of cake, we chose cocktails. Instead of a traditional veil, we adorned our model with a hydrangea leaf birdcage veil dressed in a sophisticated ivory pantsuit. We used colorful and vibrant vintage cocktail rings instead of traditional wedding bands. The bold color palette of cobalt blue, emerald, and amethyst seemed downright regal once executed. The tablescape was littered with all kinds of crystals, adding a striking layer of depth and texture to the overall design. The florals for the table were simple – we wanted it to feel like shoots growing out of the crystals, representing a fresh start and new beginnings.
THE COUPLES STORY
What is your favorite memory together?
This shoot that we did with J29 Events was one of the most memorable moments in our relationship. During COVID, it was hard to create, and we all needed to come together with a group of women in such a warm and safe place after being secluded for two years. It felt good to have a purpose.
What is been the biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome together?
We moved to Billings Mt for a year, facing many challenges in adapting within the community. Tynesha transferred schools, and I returned to working a full-time job after COVID. The community we lived in did not accept our authentic selves, and we questioned a lot about our identity and who we were/who we wanted to become. Coming from such a diverse city like Portland and moving into a completely opposite town put a lot of perspective as to who we want to surround ourselves with. Moving around as much as we have in the last two years has been very challenging, not getting wrapped up in the stress and the unknowing of life, but honestly, we wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else. When challenges present themselves, we are learning to communicate even more so that we can be there for one another.
What would you say if you could give your younger selves a pep talk for the future?
Jasmine- Always stay true to who you are, no matter what the outside noise might have to say.
Tynesha- You’re built for this.
Tell us your favorite things about one another.
Jasmine- Ever since I met Tynesha in 2014, she has brought the inner child out within me. It’s more than butterflies; it’s a vibrational pull that’s never-ending.
Tynesha- I love the way she looks at me, her cute ass smile, her freckles, her quirkiness, I can’t help but smile right back at her into those big ol green eyes.
Our bonding over food together is one of the favorite things we enjoy within this relationship. We own a cookie business called Cookiegasm that we started up during COVID, and we really enjoy standing side by side in the kitchen.
What does the future hold for you?
The future is very bright for us! Within the next couple of years, Tynesha plans to travel overseas to pursue her basketball career, start a clothing brand, and give back to her community, and I look forward to diving into my creative being. I am manifesting signing with a modeling agency, working on our business, starting a few projects, and spreading my love/light to others.
Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Love whoever makes you feel free, one who explores all parts of you and supports all stages of life with you. That’s one thing we do for each other: continuously supporting our hopes and dreams to become reality.
