This couple was due to marry in Sept 2020, but COVID had other plans and their day, sadly, like many others here in the UK, had to be postponed until Nov 2021. In the meantime, they wanted to do something to mark their love and so asked us if we could arrange an elopement-style shoot.
They got dressed up in their finery, and on a beautiful cold, crisp afternoon on 2nd November 2020, we set out to Windmill Hill and woods in Much Wenlock, Shropshire, armed with some Prosecco, donuts, and lots of blankets (the UK is pretty cold at that time of year!) J&L said their vows to one another on top of Windmill Hill during the most spectacular sunset, and it was just oh so beautiful! Although not a legal ceremony as it was just us and them, it was a day filled with emotion and one they want to share with the world to let people know there is light beyond COVID.
How did you meet?
J : We met through friends one summer on a day out to the beach. Lauz was the only one that really talked to me as I was quite shy back then. We then became friends a year later when we accidentally bumped into each other at a nightclub. I thought Lauz was very cool with her Jack Daniel’s and coke and her tattoos. About a year later, we started going to the gym together and going on walks around Shropshire.
What is your favorite memory together?
J & L: This question is so hard because there are SO many! But we would probably say our holiday in Majorca, drinking sangria at sundown for our first anniversary. This was the most beautiful trip, and we hope for many more once the lockdown has ended.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome together?
J: I think, like for many others, the pandemic has probably been one of the biggest struggles we have been through. Our wedding was postponed, and Lauz lost her grandfather. We have held each other up during these uncertain times.
Tell us your favorite thing about one another.
J: My favorite thing about Lauz – No matter what mood I am in, Lauz can always put a smile on my face. Lauz is the kindest person I have ever met, and I know that she will be the best mother one day.
L: My favorite thing about Jenn is her strength. She is so determined; it’s something I just love and admire about her. She always stands up for what’s right and makes me feel incredibly safe.
What’s in the future for you both?
We hope to officially get married as soon as we can celebrate properly (currently booked for 14th November this year, fingers crossed)! We would like to have a family one day and see some more of the world together.
