Kelly & Lea – Deciding to Elope in Sedona

Lesbian Sedona Elopement in Sedona mountains USA

After 14 years together, Kelly and Lea knew the decision to elope was one that fit them perfectly. They eloped in Sedona, and plan to celebrate a reception later on.

Talk us through the decision to elope.

We have grown up together living independently, and we just felt like it was so “us” and just fit what we wanted perfectly. We believe that any couple should be enjoying every second of their wedding day with as little stress, from anyone else, as possible. For us, the reception could be the time and place for celebrating with family and friends and avoiding added stress to our actual day. It’s a lot to plan a wedding for you and your partner, let alone an entire wedding party. We are so happy with our decision to separate the two events.

How did you tell others about your decision to elope?

We let our parents and siblings know that we were eloping, so they weren’t totally shocked!

They were so happy and eager to hear the details when we got home.

There were some moments of “I wish we could have been there,” but they were happy for us and very supportive.

Also, we chose to add a video to our package from Bill and Traci, and it was so worth it! Our family felt so much better knowing there would be footage, and we are absolutely thrilled with it!

Talk us through the elopement day.

We carefully packed our wedding attire and headed out in our hiking attire, with Bill and Traci leading the way. We got to our parking area and loaded all the gear and wedding dress onto Bill’s back! He was so nice to offer! We hiked to the very top of a big mountain and found our perfect spot and had the whole mountain to ourselves, and we found the perfect rock to change behind. We stretched out our blanket and enjoyed getting dressed in our wedding attire in the beautiful breeze and 360 views. When we were decent, Traci got in there for some last-minute getting-ready shots. It was surreal.

We then hiked a short way, in our wedding outfits, to our actual ceremony location. We stopped along the way to get epic photos and following any ideas from Traci or Bill. It was so much fun! After the ceremony, we took shots on top of the mountain, and Traci and Bill brought us champagne to spray and toast with as well. The spray was epic, and we all had a great laugh.

We explored and took photos and had a moment to ourselves to soak it all in and enjoy the sunset. We then hiked down in the dusk that turned to dark! Bill and Traci made sure we were prepared with headlamps, and we got them out and hiked down the mountain! Traci stopped us to get a night shot with the milky way behind us, and it turned out so fantastic! After the hike, we met back at our house, and they took more photos, and we said our goodbyes. Then, we enjoyed a romantic dinner and an evening by the fire at our rental house.
