Words by Lauren & Taylor

We have a long history, but I think one of our favorite stories to tell is the day we officially became best friends. I was a freshman, and it was the first day of school. Lo was a senior, and we both ran cross country together. So after the first practice, I was waiting outside for my Mom to pick me up. Lo pulled up, rolled down her window and asked me, “What are you doing” I replied, “waiting for my mom, obviously.” She laughed said, “hop in. I’ll take you home.”

In the car ride we jammed out, chatted, and made plans to go to the football game on Friday. When she dropped me off she said “you know I can just take you home every day.” Little did we know that friendship will turn into a relationship 15 years later!

How did you go from friends to something more?

I would say the transition from best friends to girlfriends was the biggest challenge we’ve faced. It was a little weird because there are just some things that are very different about the two relationships. However, we still had a lot of fun with it… the first time one of us called the other babe we both burst out laughing!

What advice would you give to others who might find themselves in a similar situation?

Pick your battles. Let go of the little things, figure out how to be the best team possible. There are some things you are both better at and enjoy doing more, or hate doing less, like the dishes – no one actually likes doing that. Don’t fault each other for the things you don’t do but focus on what the other partner does do and work together to fill in the gaps.

What’s your favorite thing about Taylor, Lo?

That she has the ability to change someone’s day for the better, and she would no lie give the shirt off her back if even a stranger needed it. She also is the only person that makes me feel better after a bad day. She knows exactly what to do to always put a smile on my face.

I was asked in a pageant once, in which Taylor always attended, what would you want if you were stranded on a deserted island? I said, “my best friend, she always knows how to put a smile on my face and makes me happy.” Little did I know I was talking about my future wife! She’s absolutely beautiful too – a bonus!

Taylor, What’s your favorite thing about Lo?

My favorite thing about Lo is her ability to make me feel comfortable with myself. Ever since I was that first car ride home, there’s just been something special about hanging out with Lo that’s always made me feel like it was okay to be who I was.

Lo has that ability to express herself and live on the edge a little, we could say. She is bold and doesn’t care what other people think and that’s something that has always inspired me.

There is no one else I would rather have by my side no matter the situation, plus she’s a bomb hair and make-up artist.

From the inside out, I don’t know what I would do without this girl.
