You’re probably aware that Australia is far behind the eight-ball and currently doesn’t have marriage equality, and we think that is outrageous!
We jumped at the opportunity to register Dancing With Her as an official supporter of marriage equality in Australia and wanted to share with you, our letter of support.
LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR MARRIAGE EQUALITY
DANCING WITH HER, as a local Australian business, dedicated to celebrating the love between women, would like to express our support for marriage equality.
We recognise that all persons are gender, sexuality and body diverse. We support the right of all our diverse community to live in an environment free from prejudice and discrimination while being able to enjoy the essential freedoms experienced by cis-gendered, heterosexual members of the community.
We believe that individual rights and liberties are vital. They are essential for a healthy, harmonious and open society. They are essential to the health and wellbeing of the individuals in which it does not include. A society free from discrimination allows every person to function at their very best.
The Australian people are increasingly supportive of marriage equality, with a recent study showing 72% believe same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.
Globally, over 20 countries have passed laws to allow same-sex marriage, including the USA, Ireland, New Zealand, Canada and Great Britain – which did so with lower support for marriage equality than Australia sees right now.
Times have changed.
Not only is marriage equality the only truly fair option, but it is also a sound economic option.
