This styled edit brings together alternative glam with statement florals, muted tones and metallics – think Doc Martins, personalized jackets, and a whole lot of personality.
Why was creating this shoot important to the team?
It’s not hard to see that the Wedding Industry is extremely hetronormative, with straight couples showcased on all media and language on websites or contracts. After working together on an LGTBQ+ styled shoot early this year, Steph and Tania met and slowly started talking more and more about the lack of representation for LGBTQ+ people and what we could do to help. So they created the Love For All workshop.
The seminar part of the day was super important as it was a space where people could ask questions openly, with honest answers, and without any judgment. We all learned about language and imagery shared, social media sharing and website forms and contracts, etc. The styled shoot was just brilliant too. Marthe and Tash are just so loved up, and you can really see that within the images. They are also in the middle of planning their own wedding.
What are the key styling elements of the styled inspiration, and who brought them to life?
Marthe and Tash had an “Alternative Glam” set up, with muted and large florals, all metallic mixed together- particularly shown in the excellent fringe backdrop and alternative Wedding outfits. Add some Doc Martens, personalised jackets, and fantastic cake!
Words by Marthe and Tash.
Our favorite memories together would have to be traveling. We both love the freedom of travel and exploring new and exciting places.
It’s actually how we met, traveling through South East Asia.
This leads us to one of our biggest challenges as a couple. Being long distance. We lived in two different countries for the first ten months of our relationship with Marthe in Holland, and Tash in the UK- this was hard. However, we did ‘Break the Distance’ in December 2019. But when COVID hit, we were forced to be long-distance again due to work. This was perhaps the hardest as we thought these days were finally behind us.
Despite it all, we know that the future holds so so so much. We will be getting married in October this year. After that we see ourselves traveling more and at some point in the near future, we plan to start a family. We actually recorded a ‘Time Capsule’ podcast the other day, where we outlined our goals and plans for the next 4/5 years.
