Based in Florida, Stephanie, the human behind Tiny House Photo, is an LGBTQ+ photographer who has been capturing authentic love with her documentary-style photography for more than 25 years.
Where did your business name originate from?
Tiny House Photo is an affirmation! After ten years in business, I rebranded as Steph Lynn Photo to Tiny House Photo. The dream is to buy land, acquire some rad tiny houses and start a vegan bed and breakfast. There are many more photography-centered ideas brewing!
How did you come to be a photographer?
I wanted to be on the school newspaper in high school, but they had already filled all staff writer positions. So the advisor handed me a roll of film and told me to try out as a photographer… and here we are (not going to age myself) years later! I’ve been passionate about photography for more than half my life!
What does being a photographer mean to you?
My dreams came true. Although Photojournalism and National Geographic were the goals, the route I took is even more significant. I’m documenting one of the most important days in my couple’s lives.
Where do you see yourself in the next 12 months?
Still documenting LGBTQ+ love stories but hopefully moving out of Florida and somewhere with four seasons and mountains! *crossing fingers*
Where is your favorite wedding destination, and why?
Oooooh, great question. I’d say the Pacific Northwest or Colorado. Florida is very flat. I think mountains are so scenic and beautiful, and I love the beauty they add to the backdrop for weddings!
Is there a wedding you’ve been a part of that you’ll never forget? Describe it to us.
The Nikkis. You know them well! I helped them plan their Destination Miami Elopement and it was honestly epic. We had the Perez Art Museum to ourselves for the ceremony, the best officiant in South Florida, and explored Wynwood for portraits. It was just perfect in every way!
When you’re not shooting weddings, what would we find you doing?
When I take time off for myself, you’ll find me in the kitchen. I love cooking and baking all things vegan! I also love road trips. I’ve driven across the country more than once. I love taking “vegancations”, finding mom and pop coffee shops, record shopping, kayaking, hiking, and nature photography!
