Getting engaged was always something we spoke about doing one day.
We spoke about who would propose. Mel wanted to ask, and Tayte really wanted to be asked. So that bit was settled!
Mel would try and sneakily ask Tayte which type of ring she liked as they walked past the jeweler, but Tayte had no idea what she wanted, so that made Mel’s job all kinds of complicated. Thank goodness for best friends who come ring shopping with you and guitar case shaped hiding spots. Mel almost ruined the surprise when she panic lied about why there were camping supplies in the fridge, but luckily she smooth talked her way out of it, sort of.
There are moments in the lead up to the proposal that are funny to look back on. At the time, it was stressful – Mel definitely aged five to ten years during this process.
Mel chose Daylesford as the location of the proposal. We always end up there for all things romantic. We love camping and being outdoors, so Cosy tents glamping seemed like the perfect fit. Mel packed all of Tayte’s favorite things, and off we went to our favorite place in the world.
With the glamping tents looking chic. Mel dressed in her finest, and a poem that thankfully had Tayte in tears in no time. She was on one knee by the end of said poem, Tayte said yes. Mel was beyond happy at Tayte’s response, but all she really wanted to know was whether she liked the ring!
Tayte ended up with the perfect ring, and Mel still proudly holds Tayte’s hand while she shows it off to anyone who will look.
