Love can be found in the most unexpected places, and for Katie and Alex, it was on a dating app. They swiped right on each other, and from that moment on, their lives would never be the same. Their journey together has been filled with adventures, laughter, and love.
Their love story began four years ago, when they went on their first date. It was at an arcade bar in the city, where Alex beat Katie at Mario Kart. After dinner and a movie, they knew that they had found something special. The rest, as they say, is history.
One of their favorite memories together was when they traveled to Vietnam with their two closest friends. The trip’s highlight was when it began to snow at the top of the Fansipan mountain in Sapa. It was a beautiful, unexpected moment that they will never forget.
Alex proposed to Katie during the strict covid lockdown in Melbourne in mid-2020. She had purchased placeholder rings and had a plan all set, but the lockdown continued for longer than expected, so she decided not to wait any longer. Instead, she surprised her by lighting candles all over the house and getting down on one knee while she was in the shower. It was an immediate yes from Katie, and they knew that they were meant to be together forever.
When it came to planning their wedding, they knew that they didn’t want a big wedding. Katie had always liked the idea of eloping, and Alex found the idea more appealing the more she thought about it. They contacted Wilderness Weddings, and within two weeks, everything was confirmed. Kate, the wedding planner, took care of everything, and they didn’t have to worry about a thing.

Their elopement was perfect. They got married in a secluded spot on the edge of the forest among the ferns. During the ceremony, their celebrant even created a trivia game for them to play, and the winner got to go first with their vows. The day was filled with laughter, and they spent most of it with the amazing team from Wilderness Weddings.
After the ceremony, they went to the top of the property to take photos. They finished the day with a private chef cooking them an amazing three-course meal while they sat in their wedding outfits and drank copious amounts of bubbly. It was a day that they will cherish forever.
When they told their friends and family that they had eloped, everyone was happy for them. Covid has made eloping more commonplace, and for them, it was the right way to go. They wanted a day that was just about them, and that’s exactly what they got.
Katie and Alex’s love story is a reminder that love can be found anywhere, even on a dating app. They have shown that it’s possible to have a perfect day without all the stress of wedding planning. Their elopement was filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. They may have eloped, but their love is anything but small.
