Umore Bianco – fiercely authentic, wildly romantic love. This sleek editorial oozes details, style, and passionate love where crisp white meets the darkest black and every shade in-between.

This day sets my heart on fire. I challenged myself to curate and capture an aesthetic out of my comfort zone, immerse myself in an editorial style, educate myself on capturing LGBTQIA+ love and grow my skills as a photographer. Umore Bianco [White Mood] comes from the depths of my heart fuelled by my desire to work alongside creatives who are passionate about their crafts and join together to let our creative souls loose. This incredible team made my desire to capture raw, authentic love with minimalistic and intentional styling evolve into something that I will be forever proud of.

Why was creating this shoot important to the team?

I created this shoot to learn and grow as a photographer, to educate myself further on capturing LGBTQIA+ love and respects the beauty and uniqueness of LGBTQIA+ weddings. Additionally, I wanted to challenge and confront any unconscious stereotyping I may refer to as a photographer, from styling to poses to language. Kellie and Chrissy’s authentic and raw connection gave me the most wonderful opportunity to do that. While editing the photos, I felt an overwhelming sense of deep humility that this beautiful couple trusted me enough to share their relationship with me – and I’m entirely grateful to have been able to capture these moments that celebrate their love.

What are the key styling elements of the styled inspiration, and who brought them to life?

This editorial celebrates the feminine beauty of both Kellie and Chrissy with outfits that complement their individual style. Chrissy shared that she is often styled in more masculine outfits on shoots, and she adored the opportunity to try something different. The outfits radiate minimal, sleek, classic – but with an edge. Gown Brie with sheer sleeves and beautifully deep back paired with the sleek lines and cutaway details of Bardot jumpsuit both by Karen Willis Holmes. The simple, delicate Bay slip dress by Susanna Greening contrasted against the KWH suit with a deep front and floating trousers for the second look.

The Oakwood at Ryther is a stunningly beautiful venue in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside. The drive through the incredible landscapes announcing your arrival put my senses into overdrive – and the venue set my heart racing. Once a generations-old family farm, Oakwood has been lovingly and stylistically transformed into a breathtaking venue.

We explored the two stunning barns, which encapsulate the most beautiful light and the beautifully manicured grounds. The team was so welcoming, and it was clear they adore their venue. I can fully imagine couples having the most incredible experience in their hands. Minimalist, monochrome and gorgeous distinctions between light and dark flowed deeply through this shoot. Contrasting super modern lines with the natural arch of the barn ceiling echoed in the bespoke curved suspended chandeliers and sharp angles of the tablescape with soft layered textures.

The square concrete cake with sugar-crafted dried Innocence flowers sat at a unique angle. Black tulips added deep tones to the soft white florals and sharp dried pampas. I wanted to fill the shoot with white and then hunt out the shadows, manipulating the natural light that pours into the venue.

What is your favorite memory together?

There are so many favorite memories that we’ve created together; getting engaged, moving in together, surviving a pandemic, planning a wedding. But also the small moments, the drives in the summertime, singing in the car, looking over, and realizing how lucky we are.

But there have been some challenges too.

Balancing working full time, running a business (Kellie co-runs a wedding hair and makeup business), a pandemic, and wedding planning have been true challenges. In addition, it has been quite an isolating experience sorting things mostly over the internet or phone, so a lot of the in-person fun things have been taken away from us, and has meant we couldn’t have family and friends help much.

We’ve just tried to remain positive and grateful. But, again, remembering that everyone is navigating their own storm, we need to remember what is important.
