A Couples Session Inspired by Honey – Lydia & Reecey

Words by Photography and Planner Esme Whiteside

I’ve known Reecey for a really long time and wanted to create a beautiful shoot around both her and Lydia and their relationship. We chose an ‘Oh Honey’ theme, with soft yellows and ochres with some bee highlights. Wanting a romantic and feminine feel to match Reecey and Lydia’s personal styles, so the dresses were super feminine. We opted for a barn venue not far from Lydia’s home, had a real celebrant who told their love story, and plenty of florals.

Words by lovers Lydia & Reecey.

L & R: We met in a nightclub in Huddersfield when we were both at university. Lydia was in her first year, and Reecey was in her second year. Neither of us knows who approached who. We became super close friends before we got into a relationship.

R: My favorite memory would have to be when we were isolated together mid-way through lockdown for a few weeks in Lydia’s student house and spending 24/7 together. We had no work commitments, so we watched loads of Disney films together and sat in the park.

L: My favorite would have to be going on our first holiday together. We went to Coral Bay, Cyprus, and it was stunning. I especially loved the day we went on a quad bike tour. We saw amazing views and loads of turtles on the beach.

Not seeing each other for two months at the beginning of lockdown was probably our hardest challenge because we live two and a half hours away from each other. We were so used to being around each other all the time. We even couldn’t see each other on our anniversary! However, having that long period apart made each minute together now even more special.

R: I love Lydia’s fantastic sense of humor. She never stops making me laugh, even when she’s extremely needy.

L: My favorite thing about Reecey is that she is the kindest person I have ever met, and she always knows what to do to make me feel happy.
