Katherine Bowman’s work is strongly influenced by both nature and the history of art. Working closely with her clients from her Thornbury studio she creates bespoke pieces full of meaning.
She has a particular interest in how we imbue an object with meaning and the consequent relationship the object has with the body it adorns. Every ring holds a story, every mark and imperfection has intention. Katherine hand engraves her precious metal rings and ethically sources the most beautiful natural stones. Her hand engraved feathers can be as valuable as a diamond.
Katherine’s first degree was a Bachelor of Arts with a Double Major in Fine Art History from the University of Melbourne from 1988 -1991. She then completed a degree with Honours in Gold and Silversmithing at RMIT in 2001. In 2002, Katherine received an Australian Postgraduate Award and completed a Master of Arts through RMIT. Katherine has taught in the fine art department of RMIT since 2006.
Katherine has many one-off pieces available on her online store. Alternatively, if you would like to meet with Katherine for a private consultation please email firstname.lastname@example.org
