This eco-luxe inspired wedding takes inspiration from the garden with a soft floral meets whimsical feel.
Tell us the inspiration behind the shoot.
The owner of Perrier Planning Inc. – Holly – practices traditional archery in the summers. The bow and arrows used in the shoot are hers. She was inspired to create a shoot that showed an empowering female image of an archer in a beautiful wedding gown. She also pictured an eco-luxe brunch wedding with afternoon archery as entertainment for their guests. Teaming up with Evyrose Design, they created floral and ivy designs that were circular and flowed effortlessly together. “We want to let couples know that they can go BOLD on their wedding day and do meaningful activities to them as a couple. Traditional weddings are slowly waning away, and they are being replaced with more authentic and fun celebrations. Aside from the design inspiration, we wanted to showcase an environmentally conscious, vegan, and low waste celebration”.
Tell us about how this styled wedding is impactful and the eco-conscious story behind each element.
This inspirational shoot was meant to empower women and advocate for racial and sexual equality. Every clothing item/object/ring box/jewelry used in the shoot has an eco-conscious story behind it. The ring boxes were made in Nova Scotia – inspired by the beautiful Atlantic Canada. All jewelry and crowns were made ethically in Toronto. The brunch spread is 100% vegan. We decided to use plantable herb paper for the menus and stationery that guests could take home after the wedding and plant: a fantastic zero-waste idea. The colour palette is inspired by the local flowers that grow in the late Ontario summers. Evyrose Design, the co-designers of the shoot, have their very own gardens where they grew everything that they created.
What are the key styling elements of the styled inspiration, and who brought them to life?
Perrier Planning and Evyrose Design created a design plan together. Perrier Planning focused on bringing a flow and chic elegance to all elements of the shoot while staying true to the arrow statement piece. We wanted the arrow to symbolize strength and beauty. We had custom mini arrows made from recycled metal for the flat lay, and little arrows showed up in the stationery design. In addition, we wanted the styling to bring up a feeling of magic in the viewer. This was brought to life with the flower girls dancing around a sparkly gold unicorn (made from recycled foam products). More magic appeared as the locally produced sparkling wine was poured into flutes with sugar hibiscus flowers at the bottom, which started blooming after a few minutes of contact with the bubbly liquid.
Evyrose decided on the floral colour palette from their garden selection and worked on creating the beautiful lush floral arch that worked as a backdrop for the couple to be married and for the harpist to play in front of. They also made the thin circular centerpieces to drape ivy around, complimenting ivy wands for the flower throwers and an ivy cake topper. The circle representation in the shoot is an environmental statement reminding us not to take more than we need from the earth. If we do, it affects growth and a healthy circle of life. Love should be celebrated in a way that respects the earth.
The Love Story – Brooke & Taylor
What is your favorite memory together?
Our favourite memory together is our first road trip with our fur baby to Tobermory – that has now become our annual tradition! Brooke had planned a hiking and canoe trip for us up there, and it is also where she gave me a promise ring.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome together?
The biggest challenge we have had to overcome together would be prioritizing our career locations – while having to put certain things on hold, we have been able to come up with a plan that includes almost everything that is important to not only each of us individually but, as a couple as well. This challenge has been a long journey in the making, but we are more than happy to be stronger now than we were at the start.
What would you say if you could give your younger selves a pep talk for the future?
We would honestly both agree to let our younger selves know that there is so much more out there waiting for you to find. To dive in with your whole heart and not let anyone stand in the way of you being yourself!
