Wedding photography for those unapologetically in love.

I love capturing weddings. A lot of the time when people talk about weddings it’s with dread or sarcasm. How overwhelming they are, how stressful they are, how expensive they are. It’s true, they can be all those things, but they are also magical, exciting and full of love.

You didn’t just decide to throw this party to spend a bunch of money, it’s because you want to stand in front of your nearest and dearest and tell them how much you love the person you are marrying. You want to point at them and say “that one? They’re off the market now because they are mine.”

My goal in photography (and in life) is to meet people where they are. Your photo session should be unique to you and your lived experience, not some cookie cutter copy and paste format. I want couples to feel seen from the moment they inquire with me. From gender free posing, to accurate skin tones, to making sure everyone has a place on my portfolio.

How do you balance your creative vision with the couple’s wishes?

With constant consent check-ins. When I have an idea for a pose or a prompt I always explain it in detail to the couple to see what they think of it, if they don’t want to do it we don’t. If they’re kind of onboard I suggest we give it a shot and see how it goes. Sometimes that’s when the magic happens, when people put themselves out of their comfort zone and then get an awesome result.

What’s something you’ve done that you’re really proud of?

I started a male boudoir project of older gay men (mostly couples) because you don’t often see them in the media. I love hearing their stories, which are often heartbreaking, but the world needs to hear them.

What’s your favorite wedding moment to capture?

For photos, the first look. It’s a private moment for the couple that is always so emotional. For myself? The Dads who give toasts at queer couples weddings, especially male gay couples. Because that’s not always guaranteed to happen and when it does it is always a tearjerker for me.
