For couples who want to feel their day again, not just see it. Real stories, told honestly. I see the moments you didn’t notice.
Hey, I’m Loz, a Surf Coast wedding photographer telling stories through an editorial-documentary lens. I direct only when it’s needed. The rest of the time, I’m quietly observing as your day unfolds, capturing it just as it is.
For me, it’s never been about taking a “pretty picture.” It’s about the emotion inside the emotion. I want you to feel what you felt. Smell the smells. Remember the tiny, fleeting moments that somehow become the most important ones. Couples often tell me their day felt effortless, like having a thoughtful friend with a camera there to witness it all.
I’ll be honest. Queer weddings are my favourite to photograph (shhh, don’t tell the straights). I love being part of spaces that feel safe, full of love, laughter, and connection, where I can be completely myself and still deeply professional. Having photographed queer weddings long before they were legally recognised in Australia, I can honestly say there is nothing quite like the love in this community. It’s bold, emotional, a little rebellious, and full of heart. It’s the kind of love that makes you laugh one second and cry the next. It’s magical how visceral and powerful this love is. It gives me the biggest buzz.
I’ve been a full-time wedding photographer for over 13 years and I still get nervous before every wedding. Every. Single. One. I’ve learned that the nerves mean I care. I thrive in the beautiful chaos of a wedding day. My neurodiverse brain is constantly firing, watching, predicting, and feeling the rhythm of what’s unfolding. I’m always looking for what’s about to happen next. This is where I do my best work. I will absolutely give you everything I have and then drive home completely wiped, usually in silence, or let’s be honest, probably listening to a crime podcast.
My own wedding in Vancouver in 2012, when Australia didn’t recognise same-sex marriage, changed everything for me. We had 28 of our favourite humans and two photographers who documented our story so honestly it still gives me goosebumps. That experience shaped how I photograph weddings today. It showed me that these images become part of your life, not just something you scroll past.
My approach is simple. It’s your day. Your story. I want you relaxed, present, and actually enjoying it. Through planning and honest conversations before the wedding, I can step back on the day and let things unfold naturally. You are the protagonists. I’m just here, quietly telling the story as it happens.

Team elopement or wedding? Why?
Ooooo, I’d say intimate wedding, so kind of both. My favourite days are the ones where your favourite humans are there to love you, support you, and celebrate properly. My own wedding was exactly that. We got married in Vancouver in 2012, back when Australia didn’t recognise same-sex marriage. We were lucky enough to have 28 of our closest people there (two of them were the photographers). Having our day captured so honestly completely shaped how I shoot weddings now. It showed me how powerful it is to have your story documented in a way that actually feels like you.
How do you balance your creative vision with the couple’s wishes?
This is why it’s so important to work with people you genuinely gel with. Couples choose me because they love my style and how I see the world, so the rest flows naturally. My theory is simple, it’s their day. I want to capture everything, big and small, that tells their story. It’s never about awkward posing or forced moments. It’s about creating space for them to relax, have fun, and be present. A huge part of this happens before the day through communication, planning, and a clear running sheet. Once that’s done, I can breathe on the wedding day and simply tell the story as it unfolds. The couple are the protagonists. I’m just their visual storyteller.
What’s a piece of advice you find yourself giving to all your couples?
It’s YOUR day. You don’t need to follow a script or traditions that don’t feel right to you. Especially in queer weddings, the beauty is that you can create something that actually reflects who you are. Go with your gut.
When it comes to choosing your photographer (or any supplier you’ll spend most of your day with), choose someone you connect with, not just someone whose photos you love. If we’re comfortable together, you’ll relax, forget I’m there, and that’s when the real, raw moments happen. That’s where you shine, and honestly, so do I.
Hot tip: ask yourself, “Will I regret this in 10 years when I look back on the photos?” If the answer is yes, do the thing. If not, ditch it.
