A Maximalist New Year’s Eve Disco Wedding Atlanta

When Jennilee and Kayla planned their wedding, they knew one thing for sure: their big day was going to be a celebration to remember. Set in the vibrant Westside of Atlanta, they threw a maximalist disco wedding that combined moody New Year’s Eve vibes, an industrial-chic aesthetic, and a fun-filled karaoke after-party. Their love of community and hosting shined as they created a uniquely personal and unforgettable experience for their friends and family.

Why did you choose New Year’s Eve for your wedding?

New Year’s Eve has always been a time for fresh beginnings, reflection, and celebration, so it felt like the perfect date to start our new chapter together. We wanted our wedding to be an extension of the holiday’s festive energy, capping off the year with laughter, love, and a night to remember.

For us, celebrating with our friends and family goes beyond just dinner or drinks; it’s about creating experiences. That’s why our big day wasn’t just a wedding but also a disco party that transitioned into an iconic karaoke after-party with an Atlanta twist. From country to rap, our talented guests brought every genre to life, giving us the perfect send-off.

What factors influenced your venue selection?

We chose Atlanta’s Westside because it’s where our story began. It’s been home to countless date nights, milestones, and memories since we started dating. The industrial-chic vibe of West Midtown perfectly matched our aesthetic, blending modern style with warmth and character.

For our venue, The Westside Warehouse, we fell in love with its cozy, urban charm. The fireplace became the heart of our ceremony and set the welcoming tone we wanted for our guests.

What inspired the overall aesthetic of your day?

We wanted to balance moody, intimate vibes with the energy of a classic supper club. Our ceremony embraced warmth and romance, with golden uplighting, candlelit tables, and black draping to tie the room together. We added pops of jewel tones through our floral arrangements, creating a setting that felt rich but inviting.

For the reception, we channeled our love of hosting by recreating the feel of a sophisticated dinner party. Think white tablecloths, glowing table lamps, classic black ribbons, and a black-and-white checkered dance floor. The disco vibe came alive with a custom disco ball installation entwined with greenery and flowers, giving the New Year’s party feel we dreamed of.

Shoutout to Weddings by Epic for taking our ideas and turning them into pure magic! They truly exceeded all of our expectations.

Did you have any standout fashion moments?

Absolutely! Jennilee wore a stunning sequined dress that caught the light with every move on the dance floor. Meanwhile, instead of wearing a traditional veil, Kayla rocked a beautiful cape that added drama and originality to her look.

Both outfits reflected our personal styles and matched the bold, maximalist energy of the day.

How did you infuse personal touches into the ceremony?

We wanted the ceremony to feel deeply personal, so we asked our friend Mike to officiate. He’s known us since the beginning of our relationship and has been an incredible ally and friend. His warmth, humor, and storytelling created the perfect atmosphere to kick off our celebration.

We also chose unique songs for our ceremony, adding another layer of meaning to our vows. From start to finish, the ceremony was a reflection of who we are as a couple.

What did you want your guests to experience during the reception?

Our goal was for guests to feel completely at ease, like they were joining us for one of our favorite dinner parties. With martinis flowing, lounge areas for them to relax, and an epic dance floor, we wanted every moment to be about connection and fun.

After the official send-off, we kept the night alive with a karaoke after-party complete with pizza bites for late-night energy. Everyone packed the dance floor, transforming it into an intimate concert featuring everything from heartfelt ballads to energetic rap performances. It was the perfect way to bring our love for music and our community together.

What advice would you give to couples planning their wedding?

Don’t be afraid to create something uniquely yours. Think about what makes you and your partner special and find ways to reflect that in the day. For example, our karaoke after-party wasn’t traditional, but it was true to who we are as a couple and made the celebration feel even more personal.

Also, trust your vendors! Once you have a team who understands your vision, you can relax and truly enjoy the day.
