Lauren & Steph’s Elopement In The Mountains

How Long Have You Been Together, And How Did You Meet?

Six Years! We met at a baseball game during the summer of 2013 through mutual friends. We were both dating other people at the time but reconnected in 2017, and we’ve been together ever since.

Tell Us About The Proposal.

Steph- One of our first dates was a hike at Red River Gorge. I later knew I wanted to pop the question on an epic hike. I proposed to Lauren while hiking the Highline Trail in Glacier National Park in October 2021. We started the trail before sunrise. A few hours later, I found the perfect little spot for a snack break, and to Lauren’s surprise I nervously popped the question. She said yes!

Talk Us Through The Decision To Elope.

Being in our thirties, we have both been in and attended our fair share of weddings. We didn’t feel it was our vibe. Our love for the mountains and trails made eloping the perfect option for us. When we came across Hannah Aspen and The Foxes on Instagram, our mind was not changing. We fell in love with their photography and knew instantly we had to book them!

Tell Us About Telling Your Loved Ones That You’re Now Married.

We didn’t do the traditional elopement “we got married” bomb drop. We told our family and friends before our trip. Everyone was very supportive, and we couldn’t wait to get back to share our photos. If you’re considering eloping, we 100% recommend it!

Talk Us Through The Actual Elopement.

We woke up well before sunrise and began getting ready for our big day. In a small cabin, we shared coffee and laughs with our makeup/ hair artist Anne. After packing our gear and snacks, we met with our photographer Hannah. We tearfully read our vows and said I do shortly after sunrise in front of Liberty Bell Mountain. It was a beautiful crisp fall morning. After the short ceremony, we had more coffee and cut into the best cinnamon roll cake we’ve ever tasted.

Then to celebrate, we hit the trails in our wedding attire and hiked 7.4 miles. It was prime larch season, and every corner we rounded led to a more beautiful view than before. We would stop and take photos ever so often. We laughed with fellow hikers because they had never seen anyone hiking in a wedding dress. The looks on their faces were priceless. When we reached the top, we sat and read letters from some of our loved ones. After completing the trail in hiker-hunger fashion, we headed to the nearby town of Mazama and feasted on tacos and beer.

It was truly a perfect day!
