Cats, Quilts, and Champagne: A Breckenridge Elopement
Instead of planning a big, traditional wedding, Emily and Mary chose to elope in Breckenridge, Colorado, creating a day that gave them the space to be fully themselves and actually enjoy every moment as it unfolded.
Their relationship has always been grounded in friendship, trust, and a shared sense of humor, and their elopement reflected that just as naturally. It was a day shaped by good music, constant laughter, and the kind of moments that feel easy simply because youโre with the right person.
Built on Laughs, Trust, and Feeling Like Home
We met on Bumble (although we sometimes say we met through friends to avoid the online dating stereotype), and we felt connected right away. Weโve always been best friends first, and humor has gotten us through everything, even the hard moments. At the core of it all is the trust we have in each other, and the way weโve felt at home together since the very beginning.
Just Us, Fully Present
We wanted sharing our vows to feel intimate. It mattered to us to have the space to express how we feel without the pressure of entertaining a crowd. Keeping the ceremony private made it feel more special, something we could truly be present in and cherish between just the two of us.

Chasing Views (and Really Good Photos)
We found McKenzie Bigliazzi Photography on Instagram. Her work was stunning, and Colorado felt like the perfect backdrop. Honestly, we just wanted cool photos to look back on, and everything else kind of fell into place from there.
It Just Made Sense
We were honest about our elopement from the start. Mary had always preferred the idea of eloping, and while Emily initially imagined something more traditional, she reconsidered as we talked it through. Our families were supportive from the beginning, so it just felt like the right fit for us.
A Day That Felt Like Us
From the moment we woke up, the day was just fun. We grabbed breakfast in Breckenridge, hung out at our Airbnb listening to music, and couldnโt stop laughing once hair and makeup arrived. Even on the way to our elopement spot, we were just enjoying each otherโs company. Without the stress of a traditional wedding, we got to focus on each other and actually have a good time.
Little Details That Felt Like Us
We wore matching custom shoes with our elopement date and cats embroidered on them. Emilyโs mom made us a quilt to cut our cake on, and Maryโs mom gifted us personalized champagne flutes for our first toast. Our cake from Love, Emily, and florals by Growing Wild added to it all most perfectly.
The Dream Team (Thanks to One Very Awesome Person)
We found all our vendors through McKenzie Bigliazzi Photography. She truly is the best and had every resource we needed. Everyone was amazing, and we left feeling like weโd made friends with all of them. They kept things light, embraced our humor, and honestly just made the whole experience even better.
Not a Single Regret
We wouldnโt change a thing. We are frequently reminiscing on our elopement trip and how wonderful our entire experience was. If youโre questioning whether or not eloping is the right choice, this is your sign to do it.
