Getting married in Florida

Florida’s beaches, cities and Keys make it one of the most popular wedding states in the country, and our directory includes vendors in Miami and across the state who are genuinely affirming.

The legal bit

If neither of you lives in Florida, there’s no waiting period. If at least one of you is a Florida resident, there’s a 3-day wait, unless you both live in Florida and complete a registered premarital course, which also takes $25 off your license fee. The license is valid for 60 days and can only be used in Florida.

Who can officiate

Florida is one of the few states where a notary public can legally officiate a wedding, alongside judges, clerks and ordained clergy. It has to be a Florida notary, not one from out of state.

Where couples are saying yes

Our couples have gone small with a beach, a bike and just the two of them, and big with an arty food truck wedding in Miami and a celebration at Oxford Exchange in Tampa.
