Story-Driven Colorado Wedding & Elopement Photography for Couples Who Do Things Their Own Way
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: your wedding day should feel like you. Not a script, not a performance, and definitely not a checklist of traditions that don’t fit your story.
I’m Sophia, the photographer behind Sophia Lewis Photography. I specialize in story-driven wedding and elopement photography across Colorado and beyond, documenting celebrations that are intentional, emotional, and deeply personal. My approach is rooted in connection and trust. I want you to feel comfortable enough to be fully yourselves so the photos reflect the real moments unfolding around you.
Many of the couples I work with are planning weddings that break away from tradition in one way or another. Some are adventurous elopements in the mountains, others are joyful gatherings surrounded by chosen family, culture, and community. What they all share is a desire to celebrate their love in a way that feels honest.
As an LGBTQ+ inclusive photographer, creating a space where every couple feels welcomed, respected, and celebrated is incredibly important to me. Your identities, your relationship, and the people who make up your world are part of what makes your story meaningful, and that deserves to be documented with care.
When you look back at your photos years from now, I want you to remember not just how the day looked, but how it felt.

Inclusivity is at the heart of how I approach my work and my business. I believe every couple deserves to feel seen, respected, and celebrated exactly as they are. As a lesbian, BIPOC, and woman-owned business, creating a space where LGBTQ+ couples feel safe, supported, and genuinely welcomed is incredibly important to me. Your love, your identities, and the people who make up your community are all part of what makes your story worth documenting.

What is your most memorable moment from a wedding that you’ve helped bring to life?
One of the moments that always sticks with me happens right after the ceremony. There’s usually a quiet minute where the couple finally steps away from everyone else and it hits them that they’re actually married. The adrenaline settles, the emotions catch up, and you can see them just breathe together for the first time that day. It’s such a real, unguarded moment and it reminds me why I love documenting weddings.
What inspired you to work in the wedding world?
I’ve always been drawn to real emotion and connection. Weddings are one of the few days in life where all the people who love you gather in one place to celebrate something meaningful. Getting to witness that and preserve those moments for people is incredibly special to me. I never take it lightly that couples trust me with memories they’ll look back on for the rest of their lives.
How can lovers make their wedding day special?
The best weddings I’ve photographed are the ones where couples give themselves permission to do things their own way. Whether that means rewriting traditions, centering chosen family, honoring culture, or keeping the day simple and intentional. When a wedding truly reflects the couple and what matters most to them, the whole day feels more relaxed, joyful, and meaningful.
