An Intimate Pacific Northwest Elopement
After seven years together and a few curveballs along the way, Sarah and Emily decided it was time to make it official. They chose the stunning Pointhouse Suites at Sargeant Bay in the PNW for an intimate elopement before celebrating with family and friends at a larger ceremony later. With stormy skies adding a touch of drama and their love shining through every moment, their day was perfectly them; authentic, relaxed, and full of meaning.
What inspired you to elope in the Pacific Northwest instead of hosting a traditional wedding?
We’ve always felt that an intimate celebration was best suited to us. The idea of a quiet, peaceful day without the structure and demands of a traditional wedding really appealed to us. Our connection to the Pacific Northwest felt natural—it reminded us of home, Newfoundland, with its rugged coastal charm.
How did you choose your elopement venue?
We knew we wanted a coastal venue with a private, serene setting. When we discovered Pointhouse Suites at Sargeant Bay, it felt like fate. The venue had everything we hoped for—driftwood-lined beaches, seabirds overhead, and a cove that reminded us of the ocean back home in Newfoundland.
The property owners, Heather and Bob, were incredibly welcoming and supportive, making the planning process smooth and personal.
Can you walk us through your elopement day? What were some of your favorite moments?
Our day began with a beautiful September morning filled with sunshine. We started with coffee on the deck of our glass cottage, overlooking the ocean, before taking a hike with our dogs, Barney and June. The secluded beach we discovered became a quiet moment to reflect on our journey and remember our late grandmothers, whom we envisioned as our two true witnesses for the day. The ceremony at golden hour was magical, followed by laughter, champagne, and cake-cutting. It was everything we dreamed of, just the two of us, celebrating love.

How did you personalize your ceremony?
Sarah wrote the entire ceremony herself, and Emily only found out during the ceremony. It added a deeply personal and emotional touch to the day. This moment was so uniquely us, and it’s something we’ll cherish forever.
What role did your vendors play in bringing your vision to life?
Our photographer, Kelly Schuster, was recommended by the venue owners, and she exceeded every expectation. Her enthusiasm throughout the day made us feel like we were in the best hands. The Pointhouse elopement package provided a seamless experience, from the accommodation to the marriage commissioner and florals. Heather and Bob truly went above and beyond, making the entire experience stress-free and perfect.
Our rings were beautifully crafted by Harris & Wick Goldsmiths Ltd., adding a touch of elegance and meaning to our ceremony.
What advice would you give to other couples considering elopement?
If an intimate and personal day feels more authentic to you, go for it. Let go of the traditional rules and create a celebration that reflects who you are as a couple. It’s your day – make it about you.
