Abby & Jayme – A Queer Elopement On The Amalfi Coast, Italy
After feeling the stress of planning even a small wedding, Abby and Jayme said ‘fuck it’ and started planning their dream elopement to the Amalfi Coast, Italy.
Tell Us About The Proposal.
Jayme is a HUGE fan of Kacey Musgraves, and some of our favorite moments together were spent at Kacey’s concerts. So, I messaged our photographer and let her know I wanted to use our couples photoshoot for our engagement and incorporate Kacey’s music. She ran with the idea and helped plan the entire thing!
When we arrived, there were pictures of Jayme and I decorating the airstream at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio and Kacey’s song “Butterflies” being played on the guitar in the background.
Talk Us Through The Decision To Elope.
We chose to elope because we wanted our wedding day to be one we remembered every detail of. We knew if we had a traditional wedding, there was a possibility we would get lost in the schedule of things and not be able to take it all in truly. So we researched different places worldwide, and when we found Positano, we knew that’s exactly what we wanted.
Tell Us About Telling Your Loved Ones That You’re Now Married.
Since we were going out of the country and that involved a lot of planning, we told our closest loved ones our plans. However, on the day of our elopement, we set aside time to facetime with our parents/grandparents. A special part of the day we cherish.
Talk Us Through The Actual Elopement.
We spent most of the day exploring Positano and eating all the food and limoncello our bodies could handle. Happening upon a secluded beach during lunch and knew that was the spot we wanted to get married at. We got ready together on our balcony overlooking Positano and then got dressed separately so we could have a first look moment.
While making our way down to the beach, we stopped to take tequila shots, and then we were married by our best friend. It felt so light and carefree.
Afterwards, we headed to a restaurant where we were met with glasses of champagne and escorted to their rooftop with the best view of Positano. We couldn’t let the fun stop there, so we stopped in at our favorite bar for limoncello. We slowly wandered back and had our first dance in the middle of an alleyway. The entire day was exactly what we had dreamed of.
