Alannah & Nadine – A Celebration of One Year of Marriage

Nadine and I didn’t have some sweet, funny, or fancy clichรฉ way of meeting. We didn’t bump into each other at the grocery store. She didn’t hold the door open for me on a windy, rainy day. It wasn’t anything out of a movie. However, it still feels just as special.

We met online on a dating app. I loved her face! She looked like Callie from Grey’s Anatomy, so I decided to send her a message. We talked for a week, then met in person. We both knew right away that we wanted each other in our lives. It just felt right. I also made her laugh so hard she spit water out her nose on our first date. That pretty much sealed the deal.

Ten months later, she proposed to me early in the morning while I was cleaning out the cat litter box! We had breakfast to celebrate and then didn’t waste any time planning our wedding. I always wanted to have it at the farm (pictured in our anniversary photos), and we made it happen. The farm has been in our family since the 1940s and is very special to me.

Our ceremony took place at the farm with our close friends and family, and then a reception at a beautiful venue, with fantastic food and moments we won’t ever forget.

And now we get to spend the rest of our lives together. We relive our happiness every day, but that was definitely made clear in our One Year Anniversary photos.

My favorite memory together is when we first started dating and would go on drives with coffee. The snow falling in December always reminds me of falling in love with her.

Aside from the obvious things most couples need to overcome, we have prevailed through anything. We have each other to lean on when it gets tough. Nadine and I are a powerhouse to be reckoned with!

My favorite thing about Nadine is that no matter the situation, she always finds the solution. Every time. She is a powerful woman and hard-headed, but I love this about her! I love the love she has for my family and hers. Not only that, but she can also make me laugh endlessly. Her love is my favorite.

No matter your background or your past, love can come when least expected. Be open to it. Accept it and enjoy it. It does not feel like the movies, and being with your best friend is the best gift.
