A Boudoir Photoshoot and a Surprise Proposal at Sunset
Fate brought them together, but the way that Tamra and Tonya have built a strong foundation of respect for each other has set them up for something incredible. They chose to have a photographer capture their surprise proposal in a field of wildflowers.
Tell us more about falling in love.
The day we met was unlike any other. We both felt something immediately, and the only way to describe it is kismet, fate, or destiny. She was a substance abuse counselor, filling in for someone who could not be there that day. I was scheduled to observe the class as part of my work in law enforcement, something I did once a month.
She was beautiful, and I thought she was completely out of my league.
Little did I know that after I left that day, she went straight to her boss’s office and told him she was going to marry me one day.
Over the past two and a half years, we have experienced many ups and downs, but there is no one else I would rather do life with. She is more than I could have ever asked for.
I have waited my entire life to find someone like her, someone who loves me the way she does. She looks at me as if I am the most beautiful girl in the world. It does not matter my size or how I dress; she has always thought I was gorgeous just as I am, and she has never wanted to change me. People might look at us and wonder why she is with me, but she has never made me feel anything less than worthy. She makes me feel truly seen.
I am a hopeless romantic, and she always teases me, saying life is not a Hallmark movie. But what she does not realize is that, despite everything happening in the world around us, she makes my world feel like a Hallmark movie with the way she chooses to love me every single day.
Walkus through the elopement day, and about planning a proposal during a photoshoot.
We had planned the photoshoot for months. For her birthday, all she wanted was a boudoir photoshoot with the two of us, so I decided to add an outdoor shoot without her knowing. We had a cruise to Alaska planned a couple of weeks after the photoshoot, and I had dropped a few hints that made her think I would propose on the cruise.
On the day of the photoshoot, she had no clue and was completely shocked and surprised. She thought it was just a normal day. We got ready and headed to Wildwood, where the photos were taken. We went to the photographer’s studio first for the boudoir photos because I wanted to propose at sunset. We spent just under two hours taking the boudoir photos before getting dressed up and heading to the field.
The photographer and I had already discussed how we wanted the proposal to go, and the photographer convinced her to wear a blindfold while walking into the wildflowers, where everything was set up for the proposal. I had a custom-made sign that said “Marry Me,” and I whispered all the reasons I wanted to marry her as I got down on one knee with a ring pop box. She had always said all she wanted was a ring pop when I proposed, so I got a box shaped like a ring pop, but inside was her real ring.
She hysterically cried, and I stayed on my knee for about 45 seconds before I had to remind her that she hadn’t answered me yet.
Finally, she said yes
