A DIY Marina Wedding at Greenwich Yacht Club in London
Hattie (she/her) and Jade (she/her) planned the kind of wedding where you could sip Aperol Spritz, play garden games, and end the night dancing with your wife under fairy lights. Held at Greenwich Yacht Club in London, the day was filled with rainbow fans, DIY florals, and a cheese tower that doubled as dinner. It was colourful, relaxed, and totally them.
What made you choose Greenwich Yacht Club for your wedding?
We were looking for somewhere relaxed with great views, and Greenwich Yacht Club just felt right. It gave us the mix of city and marina energy we wanted, and the space was bright and open without being too formal.
Did you do any DIY for the wedding?
So much DIY. We made a big hoop for the ceremony backdrop and decorated it with faux flowers from Hidden Botanics. Those same flowers went on the festoon lights outside. We added multicoloured ribbons to our bouquets and to baskets around the venue. It made everything feel more personal and playful.

What did you do differently when it came to wedding traditions?
We got ready together and arrived together, which helped keep us both calm. Jade walked down the aisle first with her dad, and then I followed. It was really special that we both got to see each other arrive. Later in the evening we had little dances with our dads, but nothing felt overly traditional or stiff.
What was on the menu?
No sit-down meal! We went with canapés, bowl food, and the best grazing table we’ve ever seen. Aperol Spritz was the drink of choice, and we added rainbow straws to keep it on theme. And instead of cake, we had a tower of cheese. It was a hit! And our fridge was stocked for weeks.
What moments stood out most on the day?
Getting ready with our bridesmaids was one of our favourite parts. We also had a first look with our immediate family at the hotel before the ceremony, which was really emotional in the best way. And of course, seeing our niece Rose absolutely own the garden games after some initial hesitation was a highlight.
Which vendors made a big impact?
Sally Rose, our photographer, was brilliant. She kept things so relaxed and captured every moment without making it feel staged. Alev Miller and her assistant Juancy did everyone’s hair and makeup and made the morning feel like a proper hangout. We also found our dresses at Coast, which made the whole experience feel stylish but still very us.
