Sydney and I met online – I am from Vancouver and she is from Washington. I owned Perrier Planning Inc at the time, and she ended up helping at my weddings because my main assistant quit right at the beginning of wedding season. She quickly discovered her love for weddings (and talent for planning) and joined the business with me. We live together, work together and it’s so much fun owning a business with the love of your life!
Taking inspiration from the era of cultural change and disco, we created an intimate elopement at Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park in collaboration with Bobbi Barbarich Photography. This elopement is set on the land of the Blackfoot People (or Niitsítapi) and features beautiful geological structures – hoodoos – found in southern Alberta.
Standing up to the harsh winds, we captured intimacy and adventure on Easter weekend. Hiking through the hoodoos in heels is not easy I tell you. Vows were exchanged high up on the rock structures in the morning light, followed by a picnic brunch for two with mimosas in a sheltered area.
We exchanged real vows and cut into a heart-shaped cake.
The colour palette highlighted the desert landscape with hues of oranges and yellows. Tiny pops of pink accentuated our love club adventure and spoke to our playfulness. This shoot featured thrifted or borrowed items only. We wanted to promote sustainability by showcasing how easy it is to give items a second life. The charcuterie brunch board featured locally made cheeses and bread, and all the flowers were grown locally in Alberta or B.C.
