Georgia & Lauren – Rustic Farm Wedding in Melbourne

Michael Briggs - Melbourne Wedding Photographer - Queer Wedding

Georgia & Lauren love animals and Collingwood Children’s Farm was a natural first choice when it came to choosing the perfect Melbourne wedding venue. With bright florals and a rustic outdoorsy vibe, these two lovers celebrated their love and commitment.

These two lovers chose Collingwood Children’s Farm, in Melbourne, as the place to tie the knot and throw one epic party for 100 of their favorite people.

They met 15 years ago at work. A friendship blossomed, and after ten years, that friendship turned into something more – the romantic spark was lit, and they’ve been inseparable ever since.

Georgia was the one to pop the question to Lauren, four years into their relationship. They were on a mini getaway near Phillip Island on Boxing Day, armed with a ring, a bottle of champagne from the year they met, and a touching photo montage, Georgia got down on one knee and asked, ‘will you marry me?’

They chose Collingwood Children’s Farm mostly because of their love of animals, and always wanting to pat them. The space also had a giant oak tree, perfect for sharing their vows under, and brought to life their vision of an outdoor, rustic wedding day filled with florals and love effortlessly.

Lauren went with her sister to look for dresses. She tried two on, loved them both, and unexpectedly picked it on the first day looking. Had to get mum to rush out and look at it to approve it; thankfully, she loved it. For Georgia, the quest to have a custom made suit wasn’t easy. Just five weeks out from the wedding date, she realized that what she had ordered was a disaster. She ended up finding something perfect at Hugo Boss.

When the wedding day did come around, it was the hottest day in 140 years, but the 45 degrees Celcius day [115-degree fahrenheit] didn’t make it any less memorable. Nor did the hiccup of Georgia’s bride’s crew leaving their bouquets in the Uber.

Being married to these two newlyweds means sharing their life with the one person you truly feel as though you can be ‘free’ with. It’s the freedom to love how you want to and live excitedly with.
