Jess & Kelly’s Story

What is your favorite memory together?

We’re avid hikers, and our favorite memories together usually involve scaling cliffs and mountains! From Hawaiian volcanoes to Zion National Park to the Appalachian Trail, we find ourselves happiest and most at peace in nature.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome together?

It’s a challenge in progress; planning a wedding while navigating complicated situations with family – while we’re lucky that some family members are open and accepting towards us as members of the LGBTQ+ community, some are not quite as ready to embrace our relationship and marriage. Even in 2022! This remains an ongoing conversation and one that requires leading with love.

What would you say if you could give your younger selves a pep talk for the future?

Trust your gut. Follow your intuition. Things don’t always go the way you’d expect – in fact, sometimes they go MUCH better.

Tell us your favorite thing about one another.

Jess’ favorite thing about Kelly: I love that she’s playful, that she loves cats as much as I do! She’s ambitious, and she’s my voice of reason when I feel down. She is kind.

Kelly’s favorite thing about Jess: I’ve never met someone with the commitment and drive I see in Jess. She inspires me daily to keep learning, growing, and becoming the best version of myself. She reminds me that I have all the tools for everything I want or need right in front of me! Also, she is a total baddie on the drumset (swoon!)
