Catrina & Nicole – A Simple, Meaningful Joshua Tree Elopement

Lesbian gay couple elopement at Joshua Tree National Park America captured by The Hendrys photography (1)

We are simple people and after a few months of talking through how we wanted to celebrate our commitment to one another, eloping made so much sense.

We didn’t want to elope in the sense of keeping everything a secret. However, we loved the idea of something low-key.

One way we included our loved ones was by creating a goodie box and mailing them our announcements, flower seeds, snacks, and a candle to light on the night we’d be exchanging vows. We mailed packages across the country, as well as to Europe. As they arrived, our loved ones called and emailed.

Everyone was so grateful to have been included in this way.

We are blessed to be loved by so many.

We decided on Joshua Tree because it was on our bucket list. So we invited a few close friends to experience the desert with us, and it was beautiful. We explored, had a night with an astrologer, ate delicious food, and laughed a lot.

Joshua Tree has been added to our list of favorite places, and we look forward to exploring more there in the future.

Because we did not have a traditional wedding, we were able to splurge on other things that we really wanted. There’s a lot of pressure in society to have grand weddings with everyone you’ve ever met – and while we love being guests at these kinds of weddings – it’s not our style. So there was no pressure to please anyone.

Our favorite memories include sharing our vows. Again, we are simple people, yet, we shared some really intimate commitments to one another. Being surrounded by a few people who have watched us grow throughout the years, was pretty special.

We were very lucky to have found vendors that aligned with our values, made us feel special and didn’t break the bank. We felt taken care of all day.
