A Meaningful Elopement with a Ring Warming Ceremony

At their favorite spot in Tucson, Arizona, Tiffany (she/they) and Lucy (she/her) shared a meaningful ceremony that included a guided meditation, ring warming ceremony and personal vows.

Tell us about your love story, so far.

We met by chance on a November evening back in 2019. Lucy was playing a show with her former rock band, Moontrax, and Tiffany was out for night with friends. They stumbled into the bar where Lucy was playing and Tiffany was immediately taken with the music of Moontrax, and Lucy.

After the set, it was as if magnetized, we were drawn to each other immediately, began dancing, exchanged numbers and proceeded to spend the rest of the night together.

Tell us about the decision to elope.

While we initially decided to elope for largely practical reasons, it very much morphed into an amazingly memorable and romantic experience.

We are also planning a destination wedding next May in Mexico to celebrate with the people we love.

Why did you choose Gates Pass as the spot to elope?

Because it’s our favorite spot to watch the sunset.

In the early days of our relationship, when the pandemic was just unfolding and the world seemed more uncertain than ever, we would drive out to Gates Pass in Lucy’s jeep for hours. We’d picnic and usually share some cold beers and tarot cards while we talked for hours.

Sometimes, when the stars came out, we’d dance below them.

It felt only fitting to return to this spot for our elopement.

Walk us through the elopement day.

Wandering the desert with our photographer, Julia, before the ceremony was epic. We hiked nearly a mile and Tif was in heels!

We had some incredibly sweet moments with our witnesses, our dear friends Jackie and Christina.

Courtney started the ceremony with a collective guided meditation that was so grounding and completely set the tone. She also did a ring warming ritual that was so special.

The sun peaked out from an otherwise cloudy windy day just in time for the ceremony – at a gorgeous sunset.

We popped a bottle of Veuve after the ceremony and sipped some bubby, newlywed, in the desert.
