Robi & Sal – When You Know, You Know

Robi & Sal – When You Know, You Know

Gay small wedding Melbourne QT Australia photography by Kylie Knight (1)

Robi & Sal don’t muck around – they’ve been together for less than 2 years, and mid- Covid lockdowns – and now they’re married.

Robi’s dating profile had been carefully curated under the guidance of a small yet dedicated team of relationship and dating experts. Meanwhile, Sal’s dating profile was more of the throwaway kind that recklessly and quite simply declared ‘good food, good wine, road trips.’

Aside from your wedding, what is your favorite memory together?

Our first date. We connected straight away and just knew we wanted to spend so much more time together. Sal was attracted to Robi’s warmth and openness, and Robi’s ability to ask questions. Sooooo many questions. Robi felt like she already knew Sal and that laugh.

Tell us about the proposal.

Sal had initially organized a dinner out than to meet up with friends; however, three days before this happened, we were suddenly back in lockdown. So Sal had dinner delivered and decked out the house in fairy lights, flowers, and candles. After distracting me with a $2 unicorn ring, she got on one knee and presented me with a vintage book with my engagement ring hidden.

Talk us through your wedding day.

We’d designed it to be relaxed, fun, filled with love, and easy. We outsourced everything (food, drinks) and had awesome friends who set up the computer for our zoom guests. We had exactly the day we ordered: a stress-free love fest at which we got to be fully present.

What does the future hold for you both?

We both feel like we have a safe and solid base together, which means we can pursue our respective interests, and there’s an excitement that we get to share the future together. We get to wake up to each other, which fills us both with joy.

The future looks brighter when you know you’ve found the right person.
