When looking for a unique wedding venue in Melbourne, Rupert and Rupert stood out for its mix of abundant greenery and moodiness – this pizza shop by day, pet-friendly wedding space by night was the perfect place for this bright, fun wedding (that included having their dogs there for the ceremony).

Karly had a fantastic afternoon planned to walk the dogs in the Melbourne Botanical Gardens, with dinner to follow. Unfortunately, while loading the dogs into the car and putting harnesses on, there was a bicker, which resulted in Amy giving a partial silent treatment on the way into the city. Amy’s brother and sister-in-law were there hiding in the bushes to photograph the moment, and then we headed to our favorite vegan pizza restaurant to celebrate!
It was the perfect mix of chaos and love.
What led you to your unique Melbourne wedding venue?
Rupert and Rupert stood out to us more than any other venue when we were in the early stages of our Instagram wedding deep dive. The abundance of greenery mixed with the moodiness really spoke to us. It was the only venue that we visited, and we booked that day!
Tell us about your wedding day.
The day was PERFECT. We had gotten ready at separate accommodation with close friends/family as we didn’t have bridal parties. Karly had a surprise wedding gift and got driven to our first look in a hot pink Cadillac. We had our first look in the Fitzroy Gardens, and from there, the day flew by. We were so at ease having Hailey and Mardy guide us through our photos. Karly met the guests at Rupert with Murph and Gigi, and they got to stick around for family photos. We moved into dinner, speeches, first dance and then the most fun dance floor. Karly peaked at 9 p.m., resulting in Amy having her sneakily cut off at the bar to avoid a full-blown wipeout. We wouldn’t have changed a thing. There was so much love, laughter, happy tears and dancing.
What were some of your favorite wedding day moments?
Our first look was so perfect to just be the two of us in our own moment on our own day. Saying our vows, being so vulnerable, and committing to something so life-changing in front of our closest people was nerve-wracking, but it was the best.
Once we all moved to the dance floor and were able to let our hair down and don our party crocks, we really got to let it all sink in!
