A Small Wedding by Lake Superior at Big Bay State Park
Jordyn (she/her) and Miranda (she/her) used a wedding planner to plan their small wedding on the shores of Lake Superior, in Big Bay State Park.

When we locked in our ‘elopement package’ through Lace and Brass Events, Emily helped us find a number of vendors from her lists.
Photos were most important to us, and so choosing a photographer was something we put a lot of effort and thought into. We loved that we got the opportunity to work with Samantha Burke. She captured the emotions of the day perfectly.
Using a planner was pivotal in keeping our wedding as drama and stress-free as possible.
What was the inspiration behind your small wedding?
Vibe and colors were just about us being in a beautiful location with those we love to celebrate a wonderful part of our journey.
We met in the fall so embraced those aesthetic choices and the date of our wedding is a not to the day we started dating all those years ago.
Tell about your wedding ceremony, and incorporating handfasting in the ceremony.
Marieke created our ceremony. We had requested a handfasting and had only a few conversations with her prior to meeting for the first time on the day of the wedding – and she nailed it.

We went against tradition and stayed together the whole day.
After we woke, we shared coffee on the front porch of our Airbnb where we could just relax and chat before the chaos of the day. We had a wedding playlist of songs that we’d sent each other over the years while we got ready with Jordyn’s mom.
There was a moment where everyone was out getting ready, so Miranda and I wrote our letters to one another. For Jordyn it was a moment that feels like yesterday; ‘The sun was shining through the window onto Miranda while she wrote her letter, her hair and makeup all done. She wore the Adidas tracksuit she received from my Aunt in honor of her brother who passed earlier in the year, and John Legends ‘I Don’t Love You Like I Used To’ was playing in the background. I stared at her. This was the woman I had loved for so many years, who in only a few short hours I would have the honor of calling my wife.’
Once we arrived at the ceremony, it was all a blur.
We greeted our loved ones and before long it was time for the ceremony to begin. The violinist played ‘La Vie En Rose’ and our Matron of Honor and Miranda’s eldest brother began walking.
It wasn’t long before the tears started flowing.
Our ceremony was beautiful, intimate, and so special to our hearts.
